Don't put a fork in Darko yet...
He's started off real bad. He'll come around though. He just needs a few of his shots to fall.
I can only imagine what's going through his head right now. I'm sure the coaches are reminding him that all he needs is to keep taking smart shots, and they will start falling. His missing shots like this is effecting the rest of his game too, so i can totally understand why some folks are calling for his head. But it's only been a few games. A couple shots fall for him, and he'll be right back on track.

Not really. Last season he made more shots than he missed...or at least close to it.
Stay patient, he just needs to make a few shots. He's in a slump. I'm sure even his biggest "non-believers" didn't think it would be this bad.

Re: Don't put a fork in Darko yet...
thank god I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've been watching most of the Wolf games and I gotta say Darko just seems to lack confidence, he really gets down on himself after misses. I was impressed that he kept taking it to the rim last night though. One thing you guys have to give him are his passes are nice. both his assists were crazy. And he had some other passes that would have been nice assists if there had been a bucket.
Darkos gotta play 20+ mpg. To make this possible I think he can play both big man positions. He can start with love at center then later in the game he can play along side Pek or Koufos. The guy could do really well on the high post. As a matter of fact I think we have a better chance of seeing Darko developing a slashing/mid range game than a dynamite post presence. But maybe we should get some former big man great to train him (Like Hakeem with Dwight). Lambier? He could get Darkos mentality right.

they can't really afford to put a fork in him yet, there's many moons left on that contract. I'm sure he just needs to find his confidence too, just kind of exasperating with everybody on the team it seems - not just Darko - needing a team of psychologists to get their mentality juuuuust right before they can start playing consistent ball

Re: Don't put a fork in Darko yet...
I really do not have an issue right now.
His defense is very good
His rebounding is doing well.
His passing is doing well.
He is not making his shots, but they are good shots to take. He is not forcing things. The only thing I would change is to be more physical. Try and get to the line a little bit rather than just using the hook. Also, he has not shot many jumpers this year. These other offensive tools might help his confidence which would then help his shot to fall.

Yes. I believe that I've mentioned in every game thread this season that Darko needs to go up strong more often instead of always going for a fade or a hook shot. I think that increases his chances of making the FG, and increases the chances that he'll go to the line. A little frustrating. His defense and shotblocking have been good at least.

The man just has no plan with his back to the basket. Why feed him the ball if everyone in the stadium knows he's looking to get rid of it right away? I think he has to catch the ball in the high post so he can face up. Problem is the only player we can put on the low block is Pekovic (and maybe Beasley) which means Love has to come out of the game and everyone cries about his playing time. This is why Darko looked decent next to Jefferson (and Pekovic in limited time), but terrible with Love out there.

I agree with this, but I guess I have issue with everybody saying that we want a facilitator at center but we also really want a scorer. Darko has made some [i]great[i] passes. He'll score a few points. The shots he's taking are high percentage shots. They will either fall or he will be defended less, and then hopefully they will fall then. In the mean time I am not worried about Darko's scoring. If the rest of the team makes the easy buckets that the offense is designed to produce, they will win some games.

He needs to be a threat to score. 8-12 range. Just so teams cannot let him just hold the ball. His scoring threat will open up passing lanes.

Darko's legitamacy as a facillator is fading by the game. As defenders increasingly don't have to honor him as a scoring threat they're increasingly abel to take away passing lanes.

FWIW, i can not log in @ rubechat. I have asked a moderator here to send a message to the admins over there. I can not even contact the admins over there. I am not avoiding you suckas! I tried changing my password, making a new acct, so as to contact the admins to fix my issue...nothing's worked.
I believe every word i have said over there. Darko is simply slumping. He makes a few of his shots and this is all over, and he can progress. He has a lot more to offer than that hook, and once a few go in his confidence goes up, and he does more. Simple as that.
PS... they have a thread over there specifically about me, and have linked to this thread. Which is the only reason this is mentioned.

They recently changed to a new server for Rube Chat. There was a temporary IP address for the new server that many bookmarked, but now that they've changed the URL name's back, logging in using the temp IP address seems to cause the login problems. That might have something to do with it. Delete your cookies and/or any bookmarks and try logging by going from the KFAN website link. Hopefully you can get back to defending yourself and your boy Darko in person then... if you really want to subject yourself to that kind of torment.

He can keep up those 2.5 blocks a game as well, and I'll be happy. Darko hasn't been a problem for me, besides the poor shooting. I think that'll come along with some time, otherwise, he's been okay.

Darko need to play the high post and be only a secondary low post scorer. But with Love on the court it will be tough to pull out. We need a legit 2-way center. Darko at PF and let's say Bynum at C would make us so much better defensively and probably offensively.

No..no. I seem to recall you saying almost the exact same thing last season. specifically when I mentioned that he needs to fix that hook shot.

Darko needs to focus on being a good defensive role player who knows how to move the ball on offense and can set screens. He shouldn't have iso scoring opportunities run for him and it's good if he's #5 offensive option on the court at all times. He's paid like role player and he should be one. You can't expect 20-10 or even 15-8 from a guy making 4 M per year that you got in a trade for Brian Cardinal.

Re: Don't put a fork in Darko yet...
My expectations for him aren't very big. I'm not arguing out of disappointment, more because it seems like deja vu.
The only other thing I really want from him is to not resort to the hook, and get some body contact if he is going to take a shot in the paint.
