Nobody can say that Hammonds was the mastermind, similiar moves made in consecutive years IMO

Bell wasn't expiring.

Salmons is 4/33.

Hypothetical: Completely ignoring the specifics of each teams situation, needs etc and examining this purely from a Pistons perspective...what would you be willing to give up in order to move Rip?

Would you include Daye or Jerebko? A future first? Would you simply agree to take back a Shard/Arenas/Brand caliber contract of herculean proportions of awfulness? How badly do you *really* want Rip gone?

Because the reality is at this point Rip is nearly as bad as those other names I mentioned. For as much as we insist "He'd be better with a real PG!" or "He just needs a change of scenery!" what other people see is a broken down, inefficient scorer who is a shell of his former self with 3 years left on a sizable contract. Like Baron Davis he isn't getting moved unless we provide some incentive, and thus far Piston fans and Dumars alike have been unwilling to really consider that possibility.

I would move Rip for anything at this point, Brand and Davis are names I'd gladly accept at this point. Even if we got an equally bad but shorter contract would be great.

I would not give up a first unless it is highly protected, Daye, Stuckey, Monroe and JJ are off-limits unless we are getting a prospect in return.

Unlimited 2nds, Summers, and White I'm fine with adding incentive.

I'd rather take on bad contracts than give up young talent and 1st rounders. But you want a Baron Davis for Rip swap? Done. Davis is a pg that may eventually contribute a little.

Well, at least we aren't Cleveland... seriously... Indians, Cavs, Browns... ouch.

Yeah so, was playing around w/ trade checker and came up with this trade...

Detroit: Rip & Wilcox for Matt Carroll & Eddy Curry
NY: Curry & 2nd for Diaw & Wilcox
Charlotte: Diaw & Carroll for Rip & NY 2nd

Anyway, you know how ESPN's trade checker gives you that lil "Hollinger Analysis" for how many wins/losses the trade will result in? Well apparently trading Rip/Wilcox for Carroll/Curry "will not affect the winning percentage of this team". I didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

I think that's probably the fairest deal we could hope for. Carroll's got some years on his contract but only makes about $4 mil per if I remember correctly.

Personally, given your two proposals, I'd rather trade for Brand than Davis. Baron Davis is as Hollywood as it gets and he's not going to want to play here. Baron would bring in just as many problems as we currently have with Rip. Brand took his talents to Philly, so he probably wouldn't buck as much as Baron if he was traded to Detroit. He also actually fills a hole for us. And while we're not going to get stellar play from Brand, it opens up the possibility of moving CV later this year (which I would be all for, though I realize some might not like it), and if CV keeps putting up 15 a night we might actually be able to get a little return value for him.

I'd prefer moving Rip for an empty contract at this point. We could have a 4 man big rotation right now in Ben Wallace, CV, Maxiell and Monroe. This isn't going to win us any championships, but it'll work for now while we're in rebuilding mode with Jerebko out.

This roster is so much cleaner without Rip stealing minutes:
Stuckey / Bynum
Gordon / TMac / (White)
Prince / Daye / Summers
CV / Maxiell / (JJ)
Wallace / Monroe / Wilcox
