Oklahoma City Thunder @ Los Angeles Clippers 11/02/2010

Post#1 » by slick_watts » Tue Nov 2, 2010 6:37 pm

Wanted to throw this up there, will get a larger game thread up later on.

Discuss: the poor defense, poor half court offense, Cole Aldrich, Blake Griffin, and what adjustments have to be made after the Utah loss.

I've got a bad feeling about Blake and offensive rebounds

Clippers are due to win their first game of the season after losing their first 4.
Thunder need some big changes from the previous games to win this game.
Offense is really struggling, there is no good structure, its basically streetball basketball.
Also, the ever mentioned rotation from Brooks needs some changes, its driving me nuts.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here we might as well dance!

this team is lacking emotion and passion to start this season. They had it vs Chicago but thats it. they are going through the motions, Durant needs to step up as a leader.

KD has to step it up but so does the rest of the team. Clippers shooting 52%, OKC shooting 30%. Same story from previous games. The defense has been bad, and the offense has been bad. Only thing saving the team are the free throws.

It looks like a team that is poorly coached and doesn't have a game plan.

So... Is it time to start worrying about Durant and his shooting?

bench Durant for the rest of the game and send a message. He is mentally checked out which is unacceptable for a leader.

You don't bench Kevin Durant. He's playing horribly but you don't bench him. Without him this team doesn't win 20 games.

Brooks has to get the team playing like a team. That's a coach's responsibility, IMO. Everyone's playing for themselves and the poor play on offense has been leading to zero effort on the defensive end.

Even last season, this was not a team that had a huge margin for error. The half court offense was bad, and they relied on making defensive stops to fuel transition opportunities. Right now the defense has been poor, so the half court offense has been put in the spot light. Nobody knows what to do.

KD needs to play better, and he will. That's not my real concern. My real concern is that the half court offense has not gotten better at all; in fact it's regressed. With the defense playing so bad you're not going to win games.

Durant is the leader, he needs to set an example. If he is playing balls out defensively I bet others follow.

4TOs and 2-10 shooting is cause for concern.

Is he doing the thing he's been doing these past few games (taking bad contested jumpers)? Can't watch the game right now.

We shoulda drafted Evans. Some of y'all say Evans' skillset doesn't fit with Westbrook, but I think it would've worked out fine.

Keeping Evans on the second unit with a 3 point sharpshooter at the point guard spot, that would make our bench killer.

We made a big mistake. It's time to man up about it.

I'm thinking the loss of Ron Adams has hit the team hard. The half court offense was horrible last season, also (though maybe not as bad as it's been so far this year) but the team could pull out wins like this with the defensive effort.

This season, the effort hasn't been consistent on defense from everyone, and the game plan has been inconsistent as well. Last season the team looked focused and prepared defensively against almost every opponent. This year, it looks a lot more like our offense does. A lot more confusion, less team work, etc.

We had games like this offensively last year a lot, but we didn't give up 50% shooting to many teams. We've allowed 50% in the last three games, I believe (or close to it). Don't think that ever happened last year. Brooks got a lot of credit for the defense last season, but I'm thinking it was more Ron Adams' work.

Harden had a great second half of the season and a great preseason. He's looked bad but he's better than this.
