Thoughts on Farmar?
I am a Lakers fan and I liked Farmar (maybe not for the triangle, but just as an NBA player). I saw some stats for the first 4 games, but its hard to get an idea of how well he did.
What are your thoughts on him so far? Obviously he isnt expected to be starter quality with Harris, but is he performing above or below expectations?

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
IMO Farmar is playing the exact same way that he played in LA except for the fact that he knows that he's going to get/getting more minutes in NJ and I think he tries to play/act as if he's a starting PG sometimes. To me it looks like he's just trying too hard sometimes. This is not to say that he's playing bad or anything like that. It's just that when I do see him, it just looks like he's trying to command and run the team or make (errant) passes as if he's the starting PG and coach would keep him in no matter what.
Overall, I think he's playing solid ball. He's the same guy that he was in LA except on a less talented team lol.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
He's been pretty clutch in the last 2-3 minutes of the 2 wins.. but outside of that he's been pretty bad. I thought the triangle was the reason for his low assists numbers while in LA, but the guys is just a horrid passer. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now because he hasn't been Travis Outlaw bad, but so far he's been underwhelming.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
He is a good spot up shooter and can drive when he needs to, but just doesn't do a good job keeping the offense going when Devin Harris hit the bench. He seems to play best as SG with Harris at the PG spot which is pretty disappointing.

Underwhelming sure but not by much. I think is played just as I expected him to, decent. He's nothing more than that, a decent role player. He's hit some big shots which is good to see but I don't expect to see him take over any games.
Farmar is a solid reliable backup PG. Funny how people were thinking he could start. That's why we can trade Harris for Melo it is a bad idea.

He is an average back-up PG. As long as you adjust the expectations to that you'll be happy. Problem is that Farmar himself and by fans has been hyped up as if he is a capable starter and with as much hate as Harris gets from the Nets many others bought into that idea. If you treat him like that then he sucks.

Good backup PG overall. He hasn't found his stroke yet, but he makes it when it really counts. Pretty solid defender as well.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
I wouldn't call him a good backup point guard, I honestly would even call him average.
He's mediocre at best.
An average to good backup point guard is Luke Ridnour, Keyon Dooling, Steve Blake or CJ Watson.

- Luke Ridnour: What are you in love wit dis guy? He better than Farmar but I suspect he chose Minny because cuz of the potential to be their full-time starter (even when Flynn returns).
- Keyon Dooling: ...Didn't we lrn our lesson with KD? But truthfully... KD is basically what Farmar is only Michael Jordan Farmar is younger, more athletic, and less injury prone.
- Steve Blake: Significant minutes on the Lakers or backup minutes on the Nets significant minutes on da lakers... Yah Kobe Bryant.
- Tamar Slay: Good but not a point guard. Point forward maybe.
- CJ Watson: Not sure why CJ didn't get more interest in the offseason. So I'll give you this one, and the one above.
Farmville just gotta get the showtime out of him, no way he shoot 29.7% all year.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
My main criticism is that he looks for his own shot too often but overall he has been fine. Pretty good shooter. Solid backup PG but nothing more than that.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
Jordan Farmar is a sg in a pgs body. Semi atheltic but the dude doesn't know his role. He doesn't get his team involved and only looks out for his own offense. He's short so he can be a liability when facing bigger guards. There's a reason why the lakers let him go. If he can't play with the best player in the planet then he can't lay with anyone. If Phil Jackson can't tame him then no one can. Steve Blake blends into the triangle and does what a pg is supposed to do. Farmar will worsen the nets.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
It was good riddance when he left the Lakers. Dude has serious ego problem, thought he had more game and was looking to spread his wings and look for a starting job. If you can't outplay Derek Fisher, who are you going to outplay in this league? I would like to know from Nets fans, does he still make those upset/angry/eyebrow squinting faces at his teammates when he makes a mistake? In LA, he constantly did that trying to deflect blame. Guy is an inconsistent shooter too. Sorry, but you guys are gonna have buyer's remorse if you haven't already.

Trust me, he sucks. Steve Blake's stats aren't earth shattering either, but he spreads the floor better for the Lakers cause he hits the long ball at a much higher clip. And as for running the offense and passing skills, it's freaking night and day.

Re: Thoughts on Farmar?
He is a perfectly fine back-up.
When the Nets have collectively played great defense, Farmar was a big part of that (Detroit and Cavs games). He has also hit some clutch shots.
When the team i cold, and asking Farmar to make a play he will usually drive and throw up a lay-up that might hit some backboard on a good day, or throw a pass into a teamates back or out of bounce.
He can think he is a starter, its ok, as long as the team plays well Farmar will fit in, if the team sucks overall he'll make it worse but who cares if they suck anyway.
