Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison is under investigation in his hometown of Philadelphia in a shooting that took place earlier this week, a source close to the investigation told Anthony Gargano of Philadelphia's WIP Radio.

The shooting reportedly occurred early Tuesday afternoon outside a North Philadelphia bar owned by Harrison.

Harrison has yet to be arrested or charged with the crime. Police spokesman Sgt. Ray Evers had no comment Friday.

"I just walked off the practice field [at rookie minicamp] and heard about the incident, and that's all I know," Colts coach Tony Dungy said Friday. "We're obviously going to look into it. I haven't spoken to Marvin yet."

Calls by ESPN to Harrison and his agent have not been returned. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league was "aware of the report, and we are looking into it."

The source said the alleged victim came into the bar, Playmakers, around 5 p.m. and engaged in an argument with Harrison, who was at the bar. The victim then left the bar, heading to his car, with Harrison following. Gunfire broke out, the victim was hit in the hand, and a young girl was slightly injured by flying glass from a car that apparently was hit by a bullet.

Police came to scene, but the victim did not identify a shooter. On Wednesday, according to the source, ballistic tests showed that the gun that had fired the shots was a custom-made Belgian weapon, and police determined that Harrison owned such a gun.

Police then went to a Philadelphia car wash owned by Harrison to question him about the gun. Harrison admitted owning such a weapon, but claimed it never left his suburban Philadelphia home.

However, the source said the gun was discovered in a bucket at the car wash, and tests showed that it had fired seven bullets that matched those found at the scene.

The source said police were contacted Friday by an attorney representing a second alleged victim in the shooting, and police are now waiting for that individual to come forward.

Wow this is sad. Harrison is one of my favorite players outside of the Bears.

The Colts have such classy players, don't they? Marvin Harrison, suspected of attempted murder. Dominic Rhodes (the man that stomped all over the Bears Superbowl dreams), DUI. Kenton Keith(Rhodes' replacement), criminal trespassing. Darrell Reid, possession (marijuana). Cato June, arrested after failure to appear in court(driving on suspended license).

So, that's how you win a Superbowl.

Marvin Harrison, suspected murderer.

When did Harrison become a suspected murderer? He shot this guy in the hand supposedly. Obviously, still extremely serious (and pretty surprising).

The rest of the stuff you mentioned falls under the category of "stuff that every team in the league deals with". DUI? Mariuana? Driving on a suspended license? I'm not saying that's great quality, but I'd guess most teams have got their share of those.

Okay, murder is an exaggeration but i'm bored and no ones reading this topic. So, I think we should make things up (hahaha). Firing a gun at someone seven times should be looked at as threatening at the very least. Attempted murder might be a stretch but is still something to be concerned about. It doesn't matter that the dude got his in the hand. You don't pop off seven shots if you don't intend to kill the victim.

While the other things aren't sexy they do have teeth. They're not felonies no, but it's goes against character. Most athletes have the common sense NOT to do those things.

Also from that report is this interesting tidbit:

Off the field, Harrison was sued following the 2005 Pro Bowl when three boys accused him of attacking them when they tried to get his autograph. The suit alleged Harrison "violently and physically attacked" the minors, including placing a "potentially deadly choke hold" on one of the boys, but it was later dismissed.

Just because someone makes TD's that doesn't make them a wonderful human being.

If someone shot me in the hand, I'd go after them in court for attempted murder, so I don't think attempted murder is really an exaggeration.

I agree, it's extremely serious, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Most athletes on the Colts don't do those things either. There are 53 guys on the team, you named 5. The Bears had a guy who was actually jailed.

This is true but I believe the Bears rectified that by cutting his ass. And have in the past gotten rid of such trouble makers(after offenses of course). The Colts aren't cutting Marvin Harrison though even if he did shoot at someone 7 times.

Well of the people you listed, the Bears cut Tank only after he did things far more severe than anyone except what Harrison has allegedly done. I mean he was jailed for stockpiling an arsenal of illegal weapons and was still on the team.

We don't know if the Colts will cut Harrison or not based on his actions here. I'd think he'd need to be proven guilty first. Remember the Bears stuck by Tank even after he was proven guilty and served a jail term.

All of this talk of whether or not he'll be cut brings up the obvious question: if he is cut, do we take a look at him?

5 times.

And the Bears did cut the guy, but only because he embarassed them.

They still have Benson, who has a drug arrest and criminal tresspass from college along with his recent histrionics.

Or Briggs who got drunk, crashed his $400,000 car and then fled the scene.

They also just drafted a couple of guys with impressive criminal records.

So let's not act like this team is a bunch of saints. At least the Colts win with their 'problem children.'
