Trade Idea Min/Orlando

Post#1 » by younggunsmn » Fri Nov 5, 2010 9:32 am

Min Trades:
Corey Brewer
2010: $3,703,472

Orlando Trades:
Michael Pietrus
2010: $5,300,000
2011: $5,300,000 (player option)

I know cap gurus will hate this trade. Pietrus got into a shouting match with Stan Van G during the wolves game and has been mired on the pine, which may make him available. He is athletic, is a good defender, and shot 38% from 3 last year. The question has always been if the elevator really goes all the way to the top with him.

I know financially it's terrible for us, but it's much better than watching brewer and ellington competing to be the worst nba rotation player of the year.

It would save orlando 3.2 mil this year and 10.6 next year when the luxury tax is figured in.
Maybe we could even get a future (2012 or later) first thrown in.

We win the talent end, but the financial end (5.3 mil for a 4th wing) is probably too much of a downside for me to pull the trigger.

I would definitely do it, but I'm not sure Orlando does.

LOL when looking for some YouTube of his game, I found this slightly ironic video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3phE0Pa3CV4

I don't see the point. I think Brewer is gone by the end of the year either way but I get the feeling Pietrus will complain if he doesn't get minutes, which I wouldn't want him to get at the expense of Webster, Johnson and Beasley.

If you want to go after anyway that's falling out with their coach, let's go after Rodney Stuckey. At least he'd bring something different to this team.

Stan Van Gundy shouts at everyone because he gets mistaken often for Ron Jeremy.

Also, Brewers numbers last season were slightly better. Although Pietrus played fewer minutes per game, his PER was still lower than Brewers, 11.9 to 12.1.

Whats Pietrus gonna bring to Orlando that gives him the edge over Beasley, Wesley, Webster and Ellington?

Im sure Brewer will be gone next year, or even sooner. Pietrus wouldnt be happy here, hes got a greater chance to win a Championship with Orlando than he does here.

Easy pass on this trade without more coming back. And a very late first isn't enough.

The only reason to make this move is if Pietrus would fill a leadership/veteran mentor role, which he won't.

I fail to see the logic behind this one. Seems like trying to put a band aid on a bullet wound. Our best asset right now is our cap space this year and next. No reason to get rid of that for anything here.
