Love is the franchise player, someone that almost any other NBA team would trade for and he needs to play. He sat too much last year. Love is bad on defense and if you want to make a point Rambis you sit him down and tell him why but let your star redeem himself by bringing him back in.
Rambis and Hahn seem to be quite a pair
Love is a medium good starter. He's not a franchise player.
Love's a role player on a good team. There's no such thing as a franchsie-role player.
Is Marc Gasol a franchise player? Is Eric Gordon? Is Luol Deng?

I'm sorry I called Love a franchise player. I misspoke. I meant to emphasize that he is by far the best player on the Wolves.

C.lupus wrote:I don't have a problem with how Rambis is handling Love as long as he is communicating to Kevin why he is sitting. Rambis knows Love is a cornerstone of the franchise and he is giving him the "tough love" treatment. Seems to me he has him on a short leash because Love seems to have a pretty big ego and he strikes me as one that has a sense of entitlement. Rambis is trying to tell him that nobody will be given anything - everything must be earned. If he can get that message through to KL, then Love will be a better player and a better teammate and it could pay off in more wins down the road.
Rambis is not Phil Jackson
I am starting to wonder how long it it going to take for guys like you and Klomp to see this
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I think Wes will surpass him before December comes.

I think if Love just shows he cares by challenging guys above the rim, he'll earn Rambis' respect. Get some fouls, get dunked on, but just show you're not gonna give anybody a free ride

Klomp wrote:Wrong.
If you think the coach isn't going to pull you, you'll start playing recklessly. If you know theres a guy behind you waiting, you're going to do whatever it takes so that the coach won't make the switch.
Wrong.
Love should be able to play with the comfortability knowing that if he makes a mistake he is gonna stay in the game. Everytime a guy does a 'my bad' he shouldnt be heading to the bench. You need to play through those situations. Bench a guy when he makes a mistake then dont play him again until another guy makes a mistake. Not the proper way to coach.
For the rebuttle to this arguement; Example
Andrew Bynum "Coach I want more minutes"
Phil Jackson "play better defense"
I agree with Phil 100%, well because Bynum is in there because of his defense. (dont do the proper things dont get the proper minutes)(but phil has alot of other options, and were paying love to play not sit)(not saying la is paying bynum to sit)(but LA is already winning games) But if this was Love and Rambis, disagree 100% , We need Loves scoring, and rebounding on the court in the 4th quarter.

You know what else you need at the end of games? Defence

Except our problem hasn't been scoring...we're putting up 97 ppg. Our problem is on defense, where we give up 114 ppg.

All the more reason to give him lots of run, pad his stats and inflate his trade value. Get his numbers up to 20 pts & 15 rebs a game, and then go find a sucker.

That's misleading. That's more of indicator of our pace and not how we're playing offense. Honestly, one of our problems is we're playing too fast. When your less talented than the other teams you need to limit posessions.

Yeah, but when you have the athletes we have, that's how we have to go, playing fast, running a lot of fast breaks, etc. We can't play the slow it down type ball, we're not really built for that, not without any true low post threat yet. Playing fast isn't an excuse for ignoring open shooters, or allowing guys to easily beat you off the dribble. The offense lacks some execution, but that's not really a surprise given how many new guys there are out there, but defensive effort can be shown on Day 1 of training camp even. They just need to buckle down.

It realistically should be a combination of both. When you're overmatched when it comes to talent, you have to limit posessions, but you shouldn't skip on opportunities to push the ball for easy baskets. The pups just aren't smart enough to pull it out when there's nothing there. Oddly enough, that's where a lot of teenagers having babies come from too.
I honestly think not enough is being said in regards to us having to play against the Dream Team and then on the next night play one of the other top 4 teams in the league. We're a young team that's still trying to learn each others' names. We were missing Flynn, Webster, and Beasley. Add those three into the mix and fast forward to February and I think you're at least seeing us be competitive. Not saying we'd win, but at least competitive.
There was a little blip the other day about Snipes still getting used to the schedule and having to play back to backs.; Same for Lazar I'm sure.

Yeah we're shooting 38% from the field as a team and committing too many turnovers. That is not good offense. Last year we shot 44% from the field.

Yep, one big thing helping us in terms of total points scored has been the large number of free throws (although our FT% is not good). But the other team is getting them too, so it's not necessarily an advantage.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.
