Strong quarter. Gave a little back at the end. Time to close it out.

Missed the game. Any highlight plays or anything significant you notice?

Minnesota is still hanging around, but Jamal just hit the most exciting play in basketball (the 4 point play). I'll try to break it down when it's over.

Congrats to Josh for equaling Mutombo's 1054 blocks as a Hawk.

The fast start by the Falcons and Hawks puts things into perspective. The Falcons have beaten all the bad teams they've faced this year while losing 2 out of the 3 games vs good teams and are looked at as a serious contender in the NFC. Beating the bad teams of the NBA is barely a blip on the radar unless you have an MVP candidate.

Recap attempt: Strong early start, hot shooting by Bibby and Josh. Sluggish shooting for Joe. Minnesota made a run at the end of the 2nd to pull within 5. Al didn't log many minutes with 2 fouls on him.
3rd quarter Hawks blew it open and were running at will on the Wolves. Jamal kicked in quite a few points off the bench. Good bench contributions by Josh Powell, Zaza, and Teague. Jordan got a few minutes and was okay. Al really contributed in the 2nd with his boards and high percentage shooting. Josh Smith was the stud (20 pts 8 rebs 6 assists 0 TOs 2 steals 5 blocks and 9/13 FG 2/3 FT) and Jamal lead scoring with 22 pts. Hung on to win comfortably by 10.

6-0 feels great but now the real season begins starting Sunday. Phoenix then Orlando on Monday. About what i expected to start although the team looks more in sync than i would think they would be this early.

I heard Kenny Smith say the old played out line about being young and athletic about the Hawks last night. And it was  cause he's been saying this for 4 years now about the Hawks, we are a mature team not some young athletic up and comer team like a Memphis or Sacramento.

We were getting great ball movement and saw guys cutting in and out of the lane (perfect example was Josh having the ball and hitting a cutting Bibby for the layup).

My favorite part was when Josh blocked the shot right into the guys face, who then fell down with this horrible look on his face.

The TV Pundits will continue to harp that the Hawks haven't played anyone of note. I'd just like to point out that we just won a game in which Jason Collins started and Joe had a bad night. Soak that in.

Remember when we start like a house on fire last year? We were blowing out teams and then we came back down to earth. Lets see how this goes. Im not a believer yet, but im patient still.

I looked back. You are right that we did start 11-2 last year before dropping 3 of 4 to end November including the Thanksgiving massacre. But last year we didn't lose more than 6 in any month so we were steady good. The wheels really didn't come off until the playoffs. As such it's a long time until the team can prove anything, until then just enjoy each day on its own merits. Always better to win than lose.

What I love is that while we are undefeated that ESPN feels compelled to talk about us a little bit. If we had 1 loss they would have skipped out highlight at halftime like they normally do.

^ I enjoy winning as well but that feeling goes away as soon as I realize this lineup wont win an NBA championship. Thats the ultimate goal and it sucks that this team cant get there. Winning is fun but come playoff time the team hits the wall.

Looking forward to us playing/getting waxed by the Magic.

Missed the game. Did I see that Smoove played SF? And still got his blocks? Did he hit his jumpers? How'd he look at SF? Did we have to play zone or did he stay with his man?

Excuse the questions but, to me, this seems to be a big deal.

Didn't play exclusively at SF, but did play quite a bit there. The defense was varied. He was frustrating Beasley early (6-17 shooting). He was 3-4 outside and 6-9 in the paint. The blocks were primarily help D. He looked got at SF and got out on the break a lot more while at SF for easy conversions. He did okay on D while at SF, but he was guarding a tweener. He wondered at bit and still isn't a great on ball defender, but I'd give him passing marks for it. Need a much bigger sample size (against better opponents) before you get your hopes up.

If Josh could hit his jumpers as often as he did tonight, I wouldn't mind him making them. Hell, I'd probably tell him to take more.

He was money with jumper against Detroit as well. I'm still skeptical, but if it keeps dropping like the last 2 games we'll have to pick a new topic to harp on. Any ideas?

Thanks for not completely embarrassing us last night like two of your division rivals already have.
