They were in man. Nick just was late covering him.
Didn't look like it. Unless the entire team was covering no one, they had 3 players in the paint guarding areas rather than players (which could be man to man considering our entire teams defensive IQ is about 0)
They came out of the timeout playing man. Period. Not going to get into semantics. Does it really matter? Most of this team can't play man, zone or 1-3-1, 3-4, 4-3, 52. It doesn't matter. And Wall is looking like a rookie. Hopefully they get it together tomorrow.

Its so sad all these great dishes Wall & espically Gil has had in the lane to our bigs and they havent finished a single one yet. Dray, Yi, and HA have been espically horrible at it, either missing or getting blocked. Worst finishing bigs in the leauge

Re: Nov 5-Bullets at Knicks at the Garden
Just watched this entire game..........
Yi/McGee are awful defenders. Yes McGee can jump, everyone understands that but point guards also drive right to the hole on him. If he can't block it, he doesn't defend it......
Armstrong has no place on an NBA roster.
Yi? Just so weak, scared, unbelievably soft. And to think I had hopes for this guy. He's just overmatched physically. Great jumpshooter, if anything he should be a backup SF and never see the paint.
Arenas gave me some hope in the 4th, Wall had some rust but it's his 4th game.......to be expected. Hinrich really needs someone with a reliable post game to be effective, and looks uncomfortable not running the point. Both Arenas/Wall still act like point guards, and are more comfortable with the ball in their hands.
The Wall/Arenas combo will most certainly work, but until Howard comes back folks it's going to be very ugly. While McGee still has hype, I would trade the kid if there were any takers. He has the athleticism to be dominant, but not the ability to harness it in any meaningful way on both sides of the court.

Put this on Ernie. It's amazing how every single big we utilize in our lineups sucks at rebounding. Apparently asking for good rebounding C's is too much these days.

Can we please get a real big man that rebounds? Please bring back Haywood.

Re: Nov 5-Bullets at Knicks at the Garden
The Bad-
Flip still isnt running many post plays. Dray was hot and we didnt run one single play for him in the post. What happend to that baseline pick & post play we use to run for Dray at the end of last season so much? We never do that now.
Wall needs to work on that J. "Sometimes" he hurts us in the halfcourt because they sag off him & leave him open. We swing it to him for the wide open shot but he cant shoot so he either misses or hesitates & does something else and it screws up the whole posession. He has to start making those shots atleast half the time.
The Good- Gil looked way better than I thought he would. Im always cautious because alot of times you look great in game 1 because of the adrenaline but then reality sets in and you struggle the next few games until you get your timing back.
However, Im very confident because he was dead tired halfway through the 4th & Dray is also getting tired & looking hurt in every single game. We get those 2 in better shape & get a slashing finisher like Howard who brings toughness and we will be extremely tough to deal with by mid season

Hilton needs to go, he has no business being on a NBA roster. He should have followed Morrison out the door.

I don't know why anybody is surprised by this. I said this in the summer and in the preseason. We are so soft up front. Seraphin is a project. Booker is short. These guys aren't going to contribute this year so this is what we have. This is what Ted wants. A rebulding roster that will garner a high draft pick. I thought Howard and Arenas would help and now I'm thinking it won't be close to being enough to make the 8th spot. Blatche is so frustrating to watch and Yi isn't strong enough in the upper body. Javale doesn't have the head for the game. Another 8-10 pounds next season will help. That's why you stay with him and hope when he gets to 25, the light will click on.

I wonder who we can acquire next year to help with the rebounding and paint toughness. Besides Blatche you cannot rely on any of these guys to give you anything better next season.

1.Our bigs are the biggest bunch of pussy finishers I've ever seen, they are pretty much responsible for every one of the Knicks 11 blocks.
2. Turnovers and rebounding are going to be a major weaknesses all season it seems.
3. Please for the love of god, keep the zone to a minimum. Like some one else pointed out our team is not smart enough or expierenced enought to be able to implement a zone for long stretches.
4. Yi is only good for offense, and he's not even that great at that. He can't rebound, block shots, or defend worth a damn. Dude is so frustrating to watch.

Re: Nov 5-Bullets at Knicks at the Garden
It looked to me like Dray couldn't move by the end of the game and his stride was looking kind of weird too. I don't know if he jumped once in the fourth quarter. Poor job challenging shots throughout, though.
I don't know, overall I don't think a healthy Gil and Howard are going to make all that much difference other than keeping games closer longer. Against a genuine competitor, this would have been a complete blowout. I mean, it's rare to see an NBA team looking as sloppy as we did late there. 23 turnovers, but we must have been on pace for 40 in the end with even the most routine utility passes ending in fast breaks going the other way. And the defense was at least as egregious.
A multitude of bad habits on display out there and I don't know if "it's only the 4th game" is a proper excuse.

Re: Nov 5-Bullets at Knicks at the Garden
Wow, what a frustrating mess this team is. If it' weren't for two hot streaks by Blatche in the first and Arenas in the fourth the Wiz would have lost by 40. I don't know where to begin my rant so I'll just say that Wall has got to tighten things up. His TO's are so wild they generally lead to break away momentum swinging dunks. They are killing the Wiz.
Everything about Hinrich's game is pissing me off: he can't hit shots, can't stay in front of his man, and careless with the ball.
The bigs are bad, we all know this. These issues are compounded when the guards play like ass.

You realize the Knicks lead the league in blocks, right?

Re: Nov 5-Bullets at Knicks at the Garden
I said this in the chat, but I'm not very hopeful about the Blatche/Mcgee combo. I just think their a bad fit as far as rebounding, toughness, and b-ball IQ go. I don't think they fit together.
It was encouraging to see Gilbert score 14 points in the 4th quarter. I do think their is an issue with Hinrich running the point even when Gil is in the game, that just shouldn't happen.
