Wow, Steltz must be impressing at camp.

Good move!

That picture makes it bittersweet, even though we never saw her around.

You should've posted this one...

That's what I was thinking, but I also thought it's pretty early in the rookie minicamp to make serious upcoming roster decisions. But then I remembered how badly Archuleta sucks, so yeah.

Man that guy sucked last year.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

Given this happened right after rookie camp, I'm on the same page with you. Addition by subtraction.

Steltz and McGowan are probably both better than Archuleta. Sadly.

This is too much great news in one day here in Chicago.

Woo hoo! Mike Brown, Kevin Payne, Craig Steltz, Danieal Manning and Brandon McGowan. Not bad.

Steltz *may* have been impressive in camp, but let's be honest, Archuleta was a complete stiff - most walk ons would bring more to the table than he did.

 Archuletta was horrible last year. The one thing I expected him to do was tackle, and he couldn't do that to save his life.

I'm really pulling for Mike Brown this year, that dude needs to stay healthy and have a chance to make plays. Between him and the four young guys I really like our depth at safety.

My opinion, if the Bears go into this season with Mike Brown #1 on the depth chart, then add another position to the list of growing problems. The Bears just can't keep relying on Mike Brown to be healthy year in and year out. And that's what they're doing.

They will, but that's why they drafted Steltz this year and acquired Archuleta and Payne last year; as insurance against him getting injured. Even if Mike Brown gets hurt again we've still some pretty good talent at the position.

^^^+1

Yeah the safety position isn't as bad as we think. I think Manning is a decent coverage safety who seems to be pretty durable. If Mike B. goes down, Steltz and McGowan can fill those shoes as the run stopping safety.

I think McGowan/Manning was a pretty decent, if not good( I really enjoyed it) last year.

Oh man, who remembered our freaking killer running defense at the beginning of the year were they subbed McGowan in for Vasher so he could nail the RB. Worked soooo well against the Chargers/Chiefs.

I read an article about how we released Archuleta, and it had a quote from Lovie about how they were hoping he'd have a great year for the Bears. How is he supposed to have a great year for the Bears if we release him?
