2011 Draft/NCAA Prospects

Post#1 » by princeofpalace » Fri Nov 5, 2010 1:26 pm

Pistons seem to be en route to a lottery pick. I know its early but who are some guys to watch for once NCAA begins?

Since this team sucks, Im for BPA all the way. Im really high on Austin Daye & Greg Monroe both of whom I think have all star potential but this team needs some superstar potential to really take them in the right direction and I hope they get that this season. There are the obvious guys like Harrison Barnes & Perry Jones but what other guys are you looking out for?

I think Patric Young could be a sleeper- he's a freshman bigman with Florida, he has an NBA body already, explosive athlete, plays in the paint, he has great defensive potential. Nobody is really talking much about him as a one and done guy but I think if he shows a consistent offensive game he should be a guy who rises about the draft board

I also would take a long look at Jeremy Tyler with Denvers 2nd. His move to go overseas was terrible but he still is a young athletic 7 footer

A couple sleeper big men to keep an eye out for:

Keith Benson (Oakland)
JuJuan Johnson (Purdue)

Sidenote: A future starting frontcourt of Daye, Jones, Monroe excites the heck outta me....

I want Barnes. He's the best prospect to come around since Durant. He's a small forward, but he can play the 2.

It depends on how they develop on the defensive end.

I'd like to see the Pistosn get a defensive anchor in the frontcourt & the backcourt. Jonas is a defensive guy but Im not sure he's a guy who can really anchor the defense

I want of these 4:

Harrison Barnes
Perry Jones
Enes Kanter (him and monroe would be an awesome and versatile pairing)
Jarred Sullinger

In that order.

^ If we take Irving then i automatically want gordon gone and i love BG (he is my favorite player). I would much rather have one of the 4 i listed. Irving does look very good though.

Not sure....according to nbadraft.net:

Weaknesses: One of the big concerns scouts have with Kanter is his physical health. He has had a history of knee problems and there are concerns about his knees not checking out 100% when he has NBA physicals … Foot speed is good but not at the level of some of the top inside forces in the NBA … Played one year of high school ball at Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, California and was somewhat inconsistent …

This would probably be the most exciting thread on this board until Rip/Tay get traded. Sad, but I can't wait till draft day!

Draft day is less exciting for me (cuz most of the top picks are known by then) than draft lottery day.

Then I guess now there are 2 days a lottery team can look forward to..

I laugh at the reality of our situation. This is probably the first time in the history of RealGM that we've had a draft thread started in the first week in November :-)

BPA for sure, hopefully we get the #1 pick, and hopefully we move some of our older players and get some picks for them in the process.

Outside of Barnes and Jones, I'm looking at PGs. The bigmen don't really excite me in the 2011 draft, I may have to warm up to them.

I'm going to be watching Kyrie Irving (top of the list) and Brandon Knight (more of a scoring PG, might be a combo, not sure) though, I really want a PG out of this draft.

Adam Morrison was the next Larry Bird.

Yeah, but Bird was strong enough to consistently play PF in college.

And there's a decent chance that Bird would not be as good of a player in modern days. He'd probably get his shot blocked...a lot

I don't really know alot about most of these prospects. I'm going to be watching alot of college basketball this year to get a feel for these guys. Right now, I'm looking for BPA and worry about the rest later.
