NFL Network's Adam Schefter says he "doesn't like the chances" of Shaun Alexander being a Seahawk in 2008.

he hasn't played 100% healthy for many games the past few seasons. It's kind of like what happened with Jamal Lewis. I still think he has it in him to be a great back if he's healthy and has a good line in front of him.

Well turning around and just going ass first to sit down in a crowd of defenders doesnt help your rushing stats.

^^ This. Yes, there were injuries, and yes, the offensive line isn't as good as it was in 2005. But watching Alexander go down on first contact every single time, no matter how badly the team needed the yardage, was tiresome. I don't know if they should cut him before or after June 1, but he should not be on the roster next year.

Could the humbling experience of being cut give him a kick in the butt and revitalize his career? Maybe. I wish him all the best with whatever team wants to give him that chance.

Also remember, he's older than Jamal Lewis. If Lewis were 30, I don't think he could have had the kind of turnaround he did.

According to Sirius NFL Radio, Alexander will be a June 1st cut. He's due a $1.25M roster bonus at that time.

Detroit will have interest. Cincy probably too, because he's from the area.

I don't think he's "done", but take him with reduced expectations and let him share the load and he can still be a good contributor to a good team. His days as a 300-carry feature back are long gone though.

Does this have anything to do with Shaun's sudden turnaround?

Alexander's yards have been dropping consistently for 3 seasons. Yes, it's because he's hurt but thats not the Seahawks fault. They need someone reliable.

That's not entirely true. Including the playoffs, he had 430 carries in his MVP campaign. Odds are, he would have started declining at this point either way, but that heavy workload in '05 took a toll.

(I'm not saying the Seahawks should keep him, just that they had a hand in his decline.)

I was just watching espn, bob glavin said alexander will meet with the saints today, and if they reach an agreement dont be surprised if they cut deuce mcallister because even though he's on schedule with recovering from his injuries (he also got microfrature surgery on one of his knees and i believe he had an acl tear) there is uncertainty around him if he will come back. He also restructured his contract to help out of the saints earlier this offseason but he said he may be the odd man out.

Deuce recently received a roster bonus and he even came out publicly and said "I realize this is for insurance." I doubt Alexander signs with us, we have a very good looking 3rd running back in Pierre Thomas who has the ability to move piles behind Bush and Deuce.

I don't like this, Deuce has his injury issues, but he will never be accused of not running hard... ever.

We love Deuce, don't cut him.

Looks like Cincinnati and New Orleans are the only two teams interested.

He was never that good to begin with.

He wasn't that fast, powerful, or shifty.

Supposedly, he had 'Great Vision'! Give me a break.

What he had was an amazing offensive line. I could have run behind that line for 4.0 ypc. This guy is washed up, and the Saints would be stupid to sign him.

The Times-Picayune - The Saints met with free-agent running back Shaun Alexander on Wednesday but did not offer him a contract, according to The Times-Picayune.

That doesn't mean the two sides won't come to terms on a deal, but it leaves doubt as to how serious both New Orleans and Alexander are about working something out.

The former MVP has not set a timetable for choosing a team

i doubt he gets another offer
