SoCal NBA - Lakers Survey

Post#1 » by sam_lai » Sat Nov 6, 2010 8:00 pm

Greetings Lakers Fans,

My name is Samuel Lai, and I am a graduate student at the University of California - Irvine. As part of my marketing research class, I have elected to study the habits and preferences of the SoCal NBA market, and specifically, the habits and preferences of the fans of the L.A. Lakers.

As such, I have created a survey that I would like to administer to L.A. Lakers fans via this forum. Of course, it goes without saying that the more respondents I get for this survey, the more relevant and more insightful my final analysis will be.

While I understand that I do not a monetary incentive to offer you for your help in taking my survey, I would be more than happy to share the results of my research with you; which I am almost certain that you, and your fellow forum-mates, would find of interest.

Clicking on the link below will take you directly to the survey; it should take you approximately 5 - 10 mins to complete and your privacy and anonymity will be strictly maintained; you will NOT be connected to your responses in any possible way.

Thanks in advance for patience and participation!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at lais2@uci.edu if you should have any questions, concerns, or comments.

Best Regards,

Sam

Hey!

Some questions appeared several times in the survey, I don't know if something was messed up or if it was intended.
Anyway, looks like it's an interesting work you're doing!
Good luck with the rest of it! ;)

Hi StarneyBinston,

Thanks for your patience and your participation!

Yes, I can assure you that there is a method to the madness, even if it may look redundant for the participant, and for that I do apologize.

Thanks for your well wishes, and hey, if you did find it interesting, and you know of some friends that might feel the same way, please pass this survey along!

Thanks again,

Sam

Hi TommyTheCat,

Thanks for your interest, and for your participation!

If you would like to get a copy of my survey results, please email me at lais2@uci.edu and I will make sure to add you to my results distribution list.

In the meantime, if you found my survey to be of value, and you have some friends that might enjoy this sort of thing, then please pass this survey along to them.

As I had previously mentioned, the more people that participate, the more 'interesting' the results will be.

Thanks again,

Sam

I took the survey in full and couldn't reason the duplicates of the same questions. What IS the reasoning? I think you messed up and should fix it rather than make people wiling to take your survey read the same questions over and over.

Anyone else question the source of this survey? I was picturing the Clippers' front office drafting this survey trying to gauge the interest (or non-interest) of the Clippers. I felt that the more in depth questions (and my answers) were directed more towards the Clippers.

Hi lovethisgame,

Thanks for your patience, and for your participation.

I assure you, I am in no way connected to either the Lakers or Clippers organization, nor will my results be commercialized in any way.

The specific details as to why you were asked about the Clippers, and vice versa (I'm also administering this survey to Clippers fans), is many, and I will not get too involved into the details here, but the main reason is this;

Both the Lakers, and the Clippers, have tailored their brand to go after a very specific segment of the NBA fan base. How and why they have done so, and how is it that two NBA franchises can survive in one market, playing out of the same stadium, sharing the same parking lot, is the reason why I am asking the questions that I am asking; for ultimately, the financial success and survival of both teams lie within the fans, and that is where I am going for data to process for my analysis.

Thanks again for your feedback and your questions,

Sam

Just took it. I love surveys. The survey filled out with Marijuana as an answer was mine, and I was 100% serious. Good luck!

I wasn't being serious.

Perhaps a suggestion is to make a separate survey for Lakers and Clippers fans. That way we don't have to weed through questions that don't apply to the respective fans. I don't see how you will filter out the serious answers to your questions with the 'wth, this doesn't apply to me' answers.

In any event, I like the subject of your research and would be interested in seeing the results.
