Re: Fire Spoelstra
the heat have 2 future hall of famers playing in their prime that have very similar styles. i think it'll take a more experienced coach then spoelstra to have this team running at 100%. he has no experience playing in the NBA, and prior to being the coach of the heat he was a scout or an assistant coach or something.

Joel is serviceable at C because when he plays like crap you guys have still won games. However, I can't say the same for Arroyo....
Start Chalmers last night and you win (and that's despite several guys playing like crap last night). Settle down Miami, back away from the cliff.
Fully agree with this...

I disagree about Joel being serviceable right now.. if were gonna play 4 on 5 on offense , he cant be a liability on defense also

Yea! What can I say. I have watched enough Heat games over the years to know Spo. is not remotely a good head coach. He is a good assistant at best. Stan Van Gundy and obviously Riley were substantially substantially substantially better head coaches.

I wasn't even posting on this board back then, but I remember seeing threads about people asking for Riley to be fired/retire after the 06-07 season.
If there's one constant you can be sure of in sports, it is that the average fan will blame the coach before the players. Always. Mostly because its easier to get rid of the coach and second guess him than it is to get better players.
6 games into the season, and we're sure Spoelstra is a failure. Ignoring the fact that he got 43 and 47 wins out of a roster with Wade and jack squad 2 years prior (those years are considered failures as well apparently).
You know how Phil Jackson did his first season with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant? 55-27, and he lost in the ECF.
I'm really not talking to Nupe, because he's already made up his mind, but this is more for other people to think about. Just a question, what coach would you bring in if we fired Spoelstra right now? And what great change would he bring about?
I'm being realistic. We have awful depth at center and point guard, and are trying to patch things together and come up with a way to still make it work. When Miller gets back, that's going to help the point guard spot because with him and Jones, we can rotate Wade and LeBron and barely play Arroyo or Chalmers. As far as center goes, I just don't want to see Joel anymore, but its tough, with Juwan and Z old and limited, Magloire slow, Haslem undersized and Pittman totally unproven.
This is not a perfect roster. Its good enough, and we should go far this year, but its not the best team of all time.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Spo has been making the same mistakes for two seasons. No/bad offense play calls, always iso plays, talented power forwards look lost, poor ingame decisions, poor subs, poor play calls after time outs. He's a very good defensive coach but he's gotta improve on a lot of his game or he wont last. Sure the center position is not the best, but you've gotta get the best out of what you have. Playing Arroyo against Paul is insane to me unless he wanted to play catch-up to build some form of chemistry. Jones gets hot from three and he has to sit for leBron, meanwhile Arroyo is still in the game getting abused on every single play.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Can we all agree now that Spo is not going to win us a championship? Our team is lost. Bosh has no clue what he's doing, Lebron is talking about how the team needs to play harder (was that ever supposed to be an issue?), and we give up large leads like a virgin on prom night.

we were up by 22 against a high quality team. It's there, but just not for 4 quarters.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
How did Spo even get hired in the first place?? This guy is one of the worst coaches I have ever seen.
Spo: "Let me put Arroyo on Chris Paul"
*Chris Paul badly crosses Arroyo and scores over and over again
Spo: "DUR DUR DUR Let leave Arroyo on Chris Paul"
*Chris Paul badly crosses Arroyo and scores over and over again AGAIN*
Spo at press conference: "Lack of chemistry, that's all."

Y'all are just mad because y'all don't got swagger like Lebron has. It is a scientific fact that Bron's swagger has the power to transform an otherwise level-headed adult male into a jealous woman.

Yeah spoelstra needs to be replace. There is no reason why we aré not leading The league in offense. We aré just getting killed in the paint.

Damn Spo's is a defensive coach btw, not Don Nelson
Losing all the lead in the 4th and losing in overtime... LOL at his patented perimeter defense, letting Millsap murder us with 3's

Re: Fire Spoelstra
The problem with Spo so far is not what happened in this Jazz game, or against the Celtics, or really in any one game this year. It is just, in my view, the overall disjointedness and lack of direction of the offense. Look at how the OT went down today. All of the Heat's shots were either Wade or LeBron isolating save for the one shot that Haslem took. The Jazz managed to outscore them and get good looks with no D Will or Big Al in the game. To me, that is a sign of a team with a clear offensive identity, whereas the Heat still look like a pick up team at times. You can argue that this is because there are so many new parts and maybe things will get better with time, and hopefully they will. But to me, at to this point, our offensive scheme looks exactly like it did last year (i.e. as Spo himself said after one of Wade's ridiculous games last year that the gameplan was 'to give Dwyane the ball and get the **** out of his way'). The pace of the game is kind of slow and we aren't exploiting our obvious advantages in transition. When our offense has 'clicked' it has usually been when Jones and House were hitting open 3s. That is supposed to be a nice ancillary piece of the offense, not its bread and butter. Anyway, I still believes Spo deserves some time, but if the offense continues to look as murky as it currently does by the time Miller comes back, Riley might have to come back down to the sidelines if this team is going to win a title.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
We have 2 of the 3 greatest players in the league right now and Paul Millsap is beating us. Honestly, Spoelstra is the total reason to blame. When you have ego's and players with the magnitude of LeBron, and Wade, and Bosh, you do not put Eric Spoelstra; former Video assistant, who never played proffesional basketball, also never coached a team past the 1st round, as your head coach.
Honestly, we need Pat Riley, watch Pat will coach and this team will explode.

Heat fan through and through. If the warriors are playing anyone not named the heat ill root for them also
