Re: Tracking Former Wizards 3.0
A lot of us thought Jamison would be best as a 6th man. My own thinking is that it's good to have pretty defined positions in the starting lineup -- a "true" PG, a "true" SG, etc. through each position. And then have tweeners and hybrids off the bench. The big problem with that was that no one with the Wizards stepped up and gave the coaches a compelling reason to make the change. It wasn't like Blatche was slaying opposing teams everytime he got on the floor to the point where coaches had to think about getting him more minutes. Plus, Jamison was their best rebounder.
So, while I wanted Jamison to come off the bench, I can understand the coach's thinking in starting him. In Cleveland, they're apparently getting good play from Hickson and Varejao, and it makes sense to use him in that 6th man role.

Beyond his rebounding, Jamison's impossibly tricky put back layins were unfortunately often the closest thing the team had to a consistent interior offense. Imagine that team with the Blatche of today as the starter.
I checked the box score when Jamison came off the bench, and Blatche had a pretty strong game (also coming off the bench) but it was his rookie year, and it looks like the best game he had that year. He was far from ready.

Re: Tracking Former Wizards 3.0
Rich Cho, the Blazers’ GM, tells the Oregonian that the Blazers are interested in Oberto but that a deal is nowhere close to being done: “The Trail Blazers’ revolving door of rumored big man targets now includes Fabricio Oberto, a 6-foot-10 Argentinian with five seasons of NBA experience. But reports suggesting that Oberto is weighing a contract offer from the Blazers are premature. Blazers general manager Rich Cho acknowledged that the Blazers have been in contact with Oberto — and a host of other centers — since Jeff Pendergraph was lost for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. But Cho also said the Blazers have not extended a formal contract offer to the one-time San Antonio Spurs forward. ‘I’ve asked about him, but we’re not close to doing anything,’ Cho said of Oberto.”

GeryWoelfel Bucks show interest in Fabricio Oberto. More at journaltimes.com sports.
Come on Bucks, you gotta be a little quicker than that if you deign to play these high stakes games. I guess they were trying to follow Detroit's lead, pick up another ex-Zard to go along with Squirrel and ride that to a championship.
Day late, dollar short, Bucks. Bucks're "outside-looking-in" for the postseason as far as I'm concerned.
The Bucks, who had more than a passing interest in free-agent center Erick Dampier before taking a pass on him, are now showing interest in another free-agent big man, Fabricio Oberto.
Herb Rudoy, Oberto's agent, confirmed the Bucks are one of four teams he's been having discussions with about Oberto.
"He (Oberto) is definitely interested in playing for the Bucks and he'd really love to play with Carlos Delfino," Rudoy said. "Right now, they (the Bucks) are sorting through some things, so we'll see."

Stackhouse is still in the NBA? I thought he was like Steve Francis and quietly disappeared a few years ago...

They wanted a link to the Jordan era. He was practically begging them to sign him through the press.

Jamison with 4 and 4 on 2-6 shooting in just 21 minutes in a big Cavs win. Imagine if Byron Scott had coached the Wizards a few years back.

Re: Tracking Former Wizards 3.0
I see that Fabricio Oberto just abruptly retired, at 35, due to heart palpitations/heart condition.
Good luck with your real life, Fab. Hope your heart issue is treatable and won't hinder you throughout the rest of your days.

I really liked Fab. He at least knew what he was doing. Probably the most competent post player we had last year.
Very serviceable big man. He's 35 now and probably wouldn't have lasted too much longer without the heart problem.
Enjoy retirement, Fab.

Bobby Simmons was cut by San Antonio. Anyone else want to see him brought in here?
I'd want him on the roster even if he can't play a minute for us. A guy with his work ethic, and record of $ucce$$, going from a second round pick to a $60 million man. Al Thornton and/or Nick Young can learn something from that guy.
I'm a little concerned with our only veterans being Hinrich, Arenas and Howard. Two of those three are Concerns with a capital C to have around young players like McGee, Blachte, Armstrong, Yi, Young, Booker, and Seraphin, plus Cartier Martin.

How did Haywood end up in a bigger dog house than when he was under EJ. He just can't catch a break.

What does that tell you about Wood? Wood is a good defensive match-up when you are facing a team with a dominant big man, but he's embarassing on offense....possibly a bad locker-room guy also.

I disagree. Michael Ruffin was embarrassing on offense. Hilton Armstrong is embarrassing on offense. Wood just plays ugly. I don't know if this recent situation is so much Wood or the fact that Tyson Chandler is healthy as he's been in years and playing extremely well. Dallas has a luxury with two solid defenders & rebounders up front.
Looking back on this offseason, Chandler would have been a good guy to make a move for.
