Scoring by quarter

Post#1 » by Imadogg » Mon Nov 8, 2010 1:55 pm

Through 7 games, 7-0. Decided to look at our points and points allowed by quarter to see how fast we start out, and how we finish.

Lakers:
1st - 31ppg (high 35 at Kings, low 26 vs Rockets)
2nd - 27.9ppg (high 39 vs Grizzlies, low 20 vs Warriors/Raptors)
3rd - 27.6ppg (high 31 vs Blazers, low 24 vs Grizzlies)
4th - 27.6ppg (high 35 vs Rockets, low 20 at Kings)

Opponents:
1st - 23.4ppg (low 14 vs Warriors/Blazers, high 33 vs Rockets/Kings)
2nd - 25.6ppg (low 20 at Kings, high 38 vs Raptors)
3rd - 25.4 (low 20 vs Houston/Raptors, high 30 vs Grizzlies)
4th - 26ppg (low 19 vs Warriors, high 32 vs Blazers)

As you can see, our scoring differential goes down each qtr in a pretty linear fashion. We score less as we go along, and we give up more points as the game goes on.

We've been outscored in the:
1st qtr one time (-7 vs Houston)
2nd qtr three times (-2 vs Warriors, -4 vs Houston, -16 vs Raptors)
3rd qtr two times (-1 vs Warriors, -6 vs Grizzlies)
4th qtr two times (-2 vs Grizzlies/Kings
So we've been outscored in 8 out of 28 quarters so far (28.6%), by an average of 5 points per quarter.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts?

We're a veteran team that is getting the job done early so Kobe and Fish can rest in the second half. I would love to see Kobe keep hovering around that 30 mpg mark the rest of the season and would like to see Fish drop down to 25 and Pau to drop to 35 and Odom to drop to 32 as the season progresses and Bynum becomes healthy and Caracter develops.

The difference is that Kobe/Gasol/Artest are on the bench and Sasha/Puke/Caracter are in the game. There's only been two games we needed those guys in the 4th, and they got the job done.

When the scrubs play the 4th the margin will go down. Nothing new. Great way to start the game.

Most champs wait until the 4th to turn it on. I'm really proud of this team.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
