"Love Close to Requesting a Trade?" PA/Sludge

RECAP: Rubechat is talking about how Sludge mentioned this on PA's show this morning on KFAN. It sounds like speculation, but they are going to use their sources (they really aren't very connected) to try to get the full story. One poster said that it sounded like Beasley told Rambis not to put Love back in because Love was pouting. Love wouldn't join a huddle?

Hopfully this doesn't hurt his value if true. I do hope they trade him, he seems like such a baby. Stop pouting play better defense and maybe your teammates wouldn't call you out. Beasley yells at Pek, but they seemed to be cool with eachother later, and then Love pouts like a baby and gets called out and wants a trade? Actual babies play better D. Trade him!

Doesn't sound like much more then speculation.

Love was my favorite play but the last few months that has changed. Too much Love>Wolves.

I'm kind of starting to hope that they get rid of this dude ASAP while he still has some value.

love is always going to be love first. he isn't a team player. he wants to get his double double. but i truly don't believe he wants to win.he thought this was going to be his team offensively but it's beasley's ad kevin don't like it. i think love is a team cancer.

i'd trade him for draft picks and bag of chips. let pek man the low post on offense and have darko cover any low post defense problems pek has. pek would explode offensively with darko in the high post. darko raised dwights game i don't see why he won't do the same for pek. who has more offensive tools than dwight.

Not wanting to be on this team may actually be an indicator of wanting to win. I can't blame Love for being upset, neither him or this team have been put in postion to succeed.

Sometime this year a contending team will be desperate for a PF due to injury or something. I hope we can deal him from a position of strength, but I do think he needs to go.

I don't think he needs to go. I'd say Rambis and maybe Kahn need to go more than Love does.

Does it matter?

If we can improve the team for the long term by trading Love than so be it.

I'm not against trading Love if we can improve, but I don't want to trade him just to trade him either. Right now I think Love's actions and struggles are a result of a dysfuntional organization.

Winners are in sports commonly characterized by playing as winners, meaning playing all aspects of the game with intensity- in order to win. If you dont play defense, you automatically exclude yourself from that category. If you miss a layup knowing that you will get a rebound on it to pad your statline, your'e not a winner.

If you can get good/solid value for him, i think Minnesota should seriously consider dealing Love.

Love doesn't miss layups to pad his stats. That's a ridiculous accusation.

I have a hard time with any player that plays below average and uninspired defense. Especially in Love's case where it seems apparent that a little extra hustle could at least lead to passable team defense. So, obviously I wouldn't mind seeing Love traded.

But I am more concerned with what needs to be added than with who needs to go. We need a number one option (and I'm not sure we even have a #2 yet) and we need players that are average or above defenders (or at least players who put enough effort into defense that they have a chance at improvement!)... If that means Love has to go, fine by me.

My concern with Love is players don't really learn to hustle after a few years in the league. You're either a player that hustles or not. I don't think that's ever going to change. Perhaps he could get in better shape and that would help, but I think there's a disconnet with players like Love between them thinking they're hustling and actually hustling.

Maybe its just my frustration speaking due to the performance by the Wolves but even though its just speculation I'm beginning to hope that he isn't with the Wolves much longer. I thought maybe he would mature as he got older but I have seen not a lot to convince me of that. I think Love is a good player but he comes off as he's more concerned about himself and how he plays then the team. Like he thinks well my stats were good so you can't blame me type of thing. Someone also mentioned on RubeChat that Brewer tried to get Love into the huddle and he wouldn't join. I wouldn't mind Pek throwing a blow to Kevin's head, maybe it would pop his big ego.

The problem is I don't feel like we know what we have (with any of our players) with Rambis as coach, and I don't trust Kahn to make the right decision in regards to who to trade for if we do decide to trade him.

+1

It might be best for the Wolves and Love to part ways. On another team Love might be force to mature and have a more specific role. I don't see signs of him maturing here(especially recently). If the Wolves a better fit I think moving Love could really help this team.

I just think of it this way.. would Love ever be the starting 4 on a championship caliber team? I think not, he's reached his ceiling and is more of a Brad Miller type, but Miller could actually defend and play 2 positions pretty well. He's not even as good as Miller (in his prime). Why waste our time on him? Right now, after his World Championship stint, he's viewed very favorably around the league and this might be the best time to get value for him.

That's a lot of assuming for one post. I'm not prepared to go that far. He surely has not reached his celing, butI think he has shown that his ceiling is not going to be as high as some had hoped/projected.

There have been worse starters on a championship teams than Love.
