I know that most of us don't take John Hollinger's opinion to seriously but here's something just wrote that we all can agree on. In his article on the high number of NBA players who have signed contracts of longer than four years during this past offseason and are playing poorly, Outlaw is included in his sixth group. (There are 7 groups in total; the higher your group number, the worse the player has done to validate the contract he received).

In Group VI, entitled "Group VI: As soon as Isiah regains control of the Knicks, we're totally trading this guy", Hollinger writes "Travis Outlaw, New Jersey (9.92). Outlaw is only 24, but he hasn't improved at all in the past four years and in past seasons has had his greatest effect as a small-ball 4 playing with the second unit. As a starting small forward, he is getting lit up on defense and doesn't get enough touches on offense (just a 12.3 usage rate) to play the high-volume, middling-efficiency style in which he's most effective."

We have Morrow. Wright dong exactly what Morrow did in GS. Its the system i guess.

Demens, Wright's a different player.
He's a good defender, can pass the ball a little, is athletic and can create his own shot better, although neither is very good at that.

Funny ecuhus, I was thinking the same thing a couple weeks ago, but then again, I thought GSW would be much quicker to match on Morrow if Wright was gone, have to imagine they already had a deal in place for Dorrell prior to letting Morrow go.

its like half time and hes shot like 15 times. He has no business shooting that much

I would have loved Outlaw on say a 4 year deal for $4 mill a year flat, but he'll never live up to that contract and being paid as much as he is and being the fact he was our "big" signing this offseason he's going to be gifted minutes his play doesn't warrant and won't be yanked when he should for at least this season.

On top of this, he's going to be tough to move in a trade if we need to clear cap space down the road for any reason.

Some people like to give that old, "What do you care what they're paid, you're not the one paying him?" answer in situations like this, but they likely don't understand the NBA salary cap. This isn't baseball...

Not his fault at all. Look no further than the 7' stay puft marshmallow man. Outlaw played great. He is streaky thats his game we will hate him when he's off and love him when he's on. Without his play against CLE we get blown out.

I'm not as hard on him as some because I knew what he was. I was always a closet fan. As long as he shoots a solid % and not chuck he will get you 15 and 5 and we should be happy with that. Is he overpaid sure, but some of you need to relax you sound like you gave him a max deal and he is turning the ball over 4 times a game and shooting 43%. "cough" Amare "cough".

Outlaw will be fine.

I would of taken both Wright and Morrow... and called it a day...

you're probably right about the love hate relationship fans will have with him...still shocked he got that contract and every time I see on the court thats all I think about...

still has a chance to earn that contract...just saying... :wink:

For what it's worth, he's put together a couple of solid games against Orlando and the Clippers.

I said this in another post somewhere. He'll have his good shooting stretches too. I still very much dont like him as a player. 1 thing that has improved is that he is taking the ball at the rim sometimes. But once he gets cold again, you'll see people hate again.
