MY Request to Michael Jordan... Take Gerald Henderson...

Post#1 » by Stun704 » Tue Nov 9, 2010 4:49 am

Take Gerald Henderson under your wing MJ... Hendo right now looks like a poor mans Dwade, and Dwade is a Poormans you.. so that means that Hendo is a homeless mans version of you MJ... Hendo has shown flashes of being able to play in this league.. so why not show him special attention and take him under your wing.. personally train him, teach him the ins and outs, be his Obi Wan Kenboi.. I think Gerald can be our future SG.. and MJ IMO is the only one that can make him live and ascend his potential.

If MJ is willing to treat Hendo as his child then I think we should trade Jax for a young center with upside ala a Hibert or hawes, and give Hendo the role of starting SG with starting minuites.. yes he will be garbage starting out.. but he will learn from his mistakes and become a stud under the gudiance of MJ

What do you guys think?

I like Henderson and think he can be a very solid role player for the team. But it is not fair to Wade to even compare Henderson to Wade. They dont even belong in the same sentence right now, and I have never seen anything from Henderson which suggests he is a poor mans Wade. Would love to see it, but right now it is not in existence.

I also hope that MJ would mentor Gerald Henderson. The guy has the tools to become successful in the NBA – the athleticism, solid collegiate basketball program and a basketball pedigree. Gerald has been showing his improvements; having a more reliable mid-range jumper and doing what LB told him to do in order for him to earn some minutes. Learning from the GOAT will surely help him refine his game and reach his potential.

MJ doesn't have time to work with Henderson. He's too busy playing golf, gambling, and smashing chicks.

I think Henderson isn't comparable to either wade or jordan really. I think though, that he has the potential to be a great player in this league if he has the right leadership.

And I think I can find a unicorn.

Henderson, at best, is the next Dahntay Jones. I've said it several times and he's playing exactly like Dahntay did when he entered the league. Similar player, similar style, same college system. Same training. Similar results. The player we drafted is nothing more than a spot starting defensive asset off the bench and he hasn't even developed his asset yet.

He's not Wade. He's not mini-Jordan. He's a poor man's Raja Bell; Dahntay Jones.

Actually he's been shooting the ball much better and he's been pretty active on offense. He's been a nice surprise this season and everyone (except you) would like to see him play a little bit more.

You see Slam, Jaruff is a prime example of someone who has watched him only for about 2 minutes this season.

I agree with Jaruff,he definitely does not look like a poor mans D-Wade,you freaking kidding me.He doesn't have the handles of Wade or MJ either, not even close right now.He could improve that aspect of his game in the near future but MJ and Wade both came into the league with the handles of a point guard.I'm not so sure Hendo will ever acquire that skill at that level.

He has no counter moves when he drives and approaches the help defense and when he does make a move in the face of a double team, it results in either a bad shot, bad pass or a turnover. These flaws in his game are the same flaws you would find watching players like Raja,Dahntay Jones,Ronnie Brewer.

I really hope i'm wrong about Hendo because his athleticism, quickness, rebounding and his improving mid range game is a solid foundation for him to be a great player in this league. He just doesn't have the footwork, counter moves, handles that will take him to that elite level.

Poor man's Raja Bell/Dahntay Jones more like it.

So he's having success on a 1-6 team with one of the most stagnant offenses in the league? That's not improvement; that just shows you how poor everyone else has been this year.

Point is; we don't really need him right now. We need a bench scorer and he's not proven on a consistent basis that he can score points. Like I've said in the past, I can't trust anyone who was beat out of a job by Flip Murray and Larry Hughes in the same season. He was planted on the bench by a guy who now plays in China and another who's sitting at home watching games on his television. Yea, Gerald is really our savior. :\

I find it laughable that you support Gerald but not DJ when DJ is clearly the better player.

Jordan never stuck me as a "take somebody under your wing"kind of guy. Go ask Kwame Brown or Steve Kerr, they might know better than me.

Hendo is more athletic than Dahnhay Jones, IMO. There are always a ton of young UberAthlete guards in the league and it's true that most of them don't amount to much, but some do, so it's a bit early to give up on Hendo. I think cats fans tend to give up on young players WAYYYY too quickly because we've had such a crappy history with developing young players.

Believe it or not, there have been a ton of players that didn't do much in their first 1-2 years (or more see Wallace, Gerald) and then improved a great deal later on. It just hasn't happened to us yet.

It's his SECOND year in the league!! He was planted on the bench last year because he was a rookie, we needed shooting and we had to make the playoffs.

And I'm not a huge fan of his right now, but he deserves a chance to play and when he's been on the court this season, he has looked much improved all around. Will I be disappointed if we traded him now? No. But I would like to see what he can do given some more time on the court.

DJ is a POINT GUARD and is tasked with different responsibilities and so far he's looked mediocre at best. He's passive and plays with no confidence. He will be gone sooner rather than later.

Hendo had every opportunity to earn the starting job last year. Remember that Flip was a late signing. If Gerald had earned his PT during the season, we wouldn't have signed Hughes. There's a reason why he was planted on the bench last year. Was DJ planted during his rookie season? No. Did we sign someone right before the season started to play over DJ? No. Did we sign someone to play above Gerald? Yes.

Huge difference in talent. DJ has the offensive potential to be a cornerstone; Henderson doesn't. You can't build a team around Raja Bell 1.5.

Jaruff the NBA is littered with great players who didn't earn a starting spot in their rookie season. Not saying Henderson will be great, I'm just saying sometimes it takes longer for certain players to "get it."

DJ will never be a cornerstone. Thats beyond laughable because he's way too passive. And the majority of his assists this season are passes on the perimeter 15-20 feet out and the player makes the shot. We happen to be making more outside shots this season so he's been scooping up a lot of cheap assists. And still he can't sniff 10 assists in a game and thats after he's had 4 or 5 in the first quarter.

DJ standing on the perimeter makes a pass to another player camped out at the 3 point line who makes the shot and you call that playing aggressive? Interesting.

Henderson has no driving ability. He has gotten most of his points this season off mid range jumpers, put backs etc. He can't beat a defender and get a layup/dunk. its sad

I'm not a Felton fan! I only posted Felton's stats to show you that even a mediocre point guard is putting up much better stats than DJ.
