Do you think the Wolves have played well this year? It's obviously early and last night was improvement, but it's not as simple play well or don't play. It's about getting the best out of your players. Rambis hasn't done that yet. Not even close.
Last night was pretty close, which is a good start. Though, I'm not sure how Rambis can help Darko make simple bunnies. I'm not sure how he can help Brewer not be the worst jump shooter in the NBA. I'm not sure how he can help rookies Johnson and Hayward not rush into their jump shots. Those little things were the difference in the game last night.
A few random thoughts...
No Ellington last night? Was he injured? It's no wonder we played better without him. No more Ellington please until Pekovic rounds out his post game and he can be limited to an effective spot up shooter.
I was also very impressed with Darko and Johnson's defense last night. Darko just matches up well with Pau for some reason.
Telfair played pretty well all around too. In my opinion in just about every game this year Telfair has looked better than Ridnour. That concerns me quite a bit.
Pace -- last night we played at a slower pace than any game this season. Just about every player was better as a result and the half court offense through out the game looked better than it has at any point this season. I think our poor team defense this year -- and giving up 130 points or whatever -- is simply a result of everybody being so winded from trying to push the ball on offense so much. I think Rambis needs to slow it down and Kahn needs to shut up about all this more entertaining basketball crap.
Webster is REALLY going to help this team when he gets back.
