Re: Z-Bo
I don't think there's a player out there (that the Grizzlies could hope to acquire) that gives the team Zach's production/contributions.
I think the only way you trade him is if it's pretty clear the Grizzlies won't be making the playoffs with the current roster (8-10 games out of the #8 spot by the trade deadline). Then again, it will depend on who the "odd man out" is in terms of performing effectively within the team's offense. As of right now OJ looks pretty bad.
I actually hadn't even thought about what kind of players you could pick up in a trade involving Zbo, but the idea is intriguing. Same for OJ.

Re: Z-Bo
Really hard to say if it comes down to that. Someone of ZBo's calibur is worth keeping b/c he skillset forces the defense to respect what he brings to the floor. He takes pressure off the guys on offense and hits the boards which is a big plus in my book.
A lot of angles will come into play. Will the lockout take place? Will David Stern find a way to recalibrate the salary cap? Will ZBo's inspite of his skillset be willing to take a pay cut of sorts for the Grizz to afford him?

This
Gasol is very important to this team, as OJ. They won't be able to sign everybody (and the extention of Conley won't help)

Re: Z-Bo
Heisley has said that he's going to keep this starting 5 together, and when he wants something, he's going to do everything in his power to get it. I think he'll be willing to shell out significant money to make that happen, perhaps even dabble into the luxury tax threshold.
Also, I don't think Z-Bo's going to command nearly as much money as people think he will. But if it does come down to not being able to keep one of the starting five, I'd let Z-Bo go over the other four.

Re: Z-Bo
I know it is probably after viewing last nights game, but I don't see anyone in the league that gives you what he does at the power forward position. Granted the team could win games without him in a different manner but you would not get that same type of production. Yes others can score from the position but the rebounding and the ability to at least touch the ball makes it seem that he has much more desire than everyone else. I would not trade him in season unless it was apart of a larger three team to multi team trade that netted the Grizz an expiring contract and either Josh Smith or a young power forward like Derrick Favors, Ed Davis, or Ekpe Udoh.

Re: Z-Bo
Zach seems to be the third in line of the "core" to be extended. There is no way he is getting Pau Gasol money. #1 there's the problem with his history (even though he's been citizen ZBo since arriving in Memphis) fair or not, and #2 Memphis (durr) isn't the Lakers. IMO the way it'll play out is that Marc will get paid, OJ extended and hopefully when Zach is exposed to the open market (and finds it less than he hoped) he'll sign back on with the Grizz.

I think deponding on where they at on the standings by the trade deadline if they r in the 7 or 8 seed they could trade zbo to Detroit for prince and cv that way their still flexible prince Is a expire and maybe a cv can kinda make up for zbo maybe he can be an 18ppg 8rpg? I say take a chance ways the worst that can happen even if their not in the running for da 8seed they should move zbo

I assume your post is in response to the article today that was pure speculation about Randolph and Detroit. If you read my post in the trade thread you'll see that I think there isn't any conflict with Randolph and the Grizzlies, both sides are happy with each other, they are going to try hard together to make the playoffs this season, and next summer the options from both sides will be explored.
Prince and Charlie V isn't happening any time soon.

Re: Z-Bo
I don't think anyone wants any part of CV at this point. He's just not good enough defensively or in the rebounding department and doesn't give the consistent offensive output that Zach offers. Now if you're talking Zach for Maxiell and Tay then I think the Grizzlies would consider making that deal.
But really right now ZBo clicks with this offense and gives the Grizzlies a skillset that is pretty important to their offense. The only way a deal like this goes down is if it's pretty clear the Grizzlies won't be able to hold onto Zach or if they start performing really terribly (to the point where they're out of contention by the trade deadline/all-star break).

Re: Z-Bo
Another name that would put out any potential fire regarding a ZBo exit is Kevin Love. I took the liberty of seeing if a potential deal would work for Minny/Memphis.
ZBo for Kevin Love and Martell Webster would work since Minny is under the CAP.
Kevin Love is a rebounding fool but we would have one of the most unathletic frontcourts with him and Marc Gasol manning the middle.
If there was a contract empasse between ZBo and the Grizz this is one scenario I would not mine.

While I would LOVE (Pun intended) for this deal to go down, no way it happens.

CV - 18 & 8. He's NEVER averaged 18 & 8 for his career. He was handed the starting job in Detroit and couldn't do that. How is he supposed to come to Memphis and do that. Come on, now.

I never said he would get 18 & 8 but he could at least try I think cv is a poor mans Chris bosh cv look ok when he was with Milwaukee before he signed with Detroit He might need to be on the right system or a real coach kinda like ty Thomas when he was on Chicago
