So far......

Post#1 » by starbuck785 » Thu Nov 11, 2010 6:43 am

I just watched the game RJ is killing it splitter looked good but I love our 2nd unit. We could do some real damage if we stay healthy. If Splitter comes along and Hill can play to the level of last year
and RJ stays on his roll damn I like our chances. I think Dice and Bonner need to have good years off the bench to help spare TD down the road and on back 2 back nights. There are playing unselfish and everyone looks fresh and healthy GO SPURS.

Yeah RJ is playing amazing. This is what he's capable of and this is exactly why the Spurs brought him in here in the first place, to take the increasingly heavy burden off the shoulders of the big 3 scoring load. Splitter looked all right. He still has some work to do on his rotations but then again the season is young and he just came back from injury not too long ago. He should be fine. I like Dice's energy in tonight's game. He was crashing the glass well and knocked down a few jump shots. His defense looked all right as well. Now Blair...man this guy, I don't know. He's always going to be a defensive liability and I don't think we can trust to play him big minutes in the playoffs if we want to make one final title run. I want him gone but I don't know if the Spurs FO sees him in the same light as I do.

I'm excited by our start but he haven't really been tested yet. We're beating teams we should be beating and we're not dominating anyone.

We're 6-1, I remember this time last season we were 2-4, so things are looking up, but I want to see how we match up with the likes of Boston and the Lakers before I get too psyched.

Speaking of Jefferson, what if he didn't opt out of his contract. He will be earning 15 mill a year and he would become a FA at the end of the season..With him playing like this all year, for how much money would he sign (re-sign) in 2011??

The bench looks great. They bring a ton of energy and they can shoot the lights out.

Our bench has been the biggest surprise to me so far. That and the difference in RJ's approach to the game compared to last year.

will splitter be moving to the starting line up anytime soon? i think his game/size and inside defensive presence (potential for it at least) is much more suited for playing next to duncan while blair's energy and motor is much more suited for the bench

Ok start... a long way to go. We're playing to be a dark horse as it is, so even if things keep going well it probably won't be enough... let's just enjoy however much success we can get, and enjoy another chapter of Tim's legacy. Some positive play from the young guys is great for the future of course.

Something happened last night when watching my Spurs play, it was a first for me. For the the first time ever, I didn't cringe a single time when one of our bench guys came in the game. I just can't believe how deep we are right now. It's an awesome feeling when you see Parker come out to be replaced by Hill, or Blair comes out to be replaced by Splitter, TD out replaced by McDyess, even Gary Neal gives me confidence. I think we should do well, I'm no gonna say we're gonna win this year, but we're on the right track.

I think Splitter could move into the starting lineup eventually but I don't see it happening any time soon.

It's not a big deal if Splitter starts or comes off the bench.
He's still getting in shape (remember he lost the entire training camp) and it's good for him to keep playing and step by step winning minutes..

We were worried about Blair starting cause he was feeling lost and undersized for the Center position. He was so good last year coming off the bench bringing energy to the team. Though now he is starting to get it going and that's good news.

I think it's too much for Splitter to start this year.

What we're seeing with Blair this year is that teams know him now and prepare for him. Made it a point to keep him off the boards. Blair also needs to learn his opponents and the guy he's guarding better compared to when he's coming off the bench and playing againts bench guys. He wasn't asked to guard Star Bigmen last year. So he's struggling right now to adjust. Understandable.

Splitter is going through what Blair went through last season. He learns the refs, the system, the league, gets acquainted with the team, teammates, and the city. Next year, that will be the year Splitter has a good chance on claiming that starting spot.

Right now if Blair continues to struggle and isn't able to fix it, I bet my ass off McDyess or Bonner is gonna be the one that reclaim the starting job. Atleast when it comes to crucial moments of the game, that's the 2 guys who's going to be on the floor.
