Carl Landry

Post#1 » by desquivel18 » Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:11 pm

I think we can expect the front office to trade carl landry pretty soon. Coach Westphal said after last nights game that he doesnt fit in with the frontcourt.
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/player ... 018&spln=1
and the coach really seems to like JT so a trade would definitely give him alot more playing time.

if a trade takes place, who do you think we go after?

Rotoworld makes assumptions based on fantasy sports, but for all of the Landry backers I'd like you to state your case for him with out that case being "he's the lesser of two evils." Once you put it that way you've conceded to my point.

That point is that Carl is a guy who is effective against a 2nd unit. He's not going to be effective against elite bigs. We tried this experiment before with Corliss, and Kenny Thomas. It didn't work. Without the size it doesn't work.

Trading Landry would help free up time for both JT and Cousins...maybe even Greene. Trouble is that his play lately may have some impact on his value. We may need to wait for him to have a couple of good games before heavily shopping him.

Although trading big for small is typically not a good idea, I would consider an idea of moving Landry for a solid backup (or even starter-level) PG with good shooting range. Head is just not the guy I want to see on the floor...really ever again. Exactly who to target, well, that I haven't thought much about yet.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Carl proved he can put up 18 ppg last season and had 20 and 10 against minnesota the first game of the year. I still think he is definitely a better offensive player then JT and probably our 2nd biggest offensive threat. These last few games he has looked horrible though. What we need right now is fire power. Tyreke can get us 20+ and another 10-15 pts getting guys wide open shots but Landry was suppose to be that 2nd guy. Either he needs to start scoring like he was last year/first few games this year or we need to trade him. I loved the trade last year but we are missing k-mart...

As much as I don't like Westphal changing the lineups all the time, before we stick with something, we have to find something that works. We have yet to find that. Bring Landry off the bench. It will work better.

We should have offered LANDRY for J.BAYLESS before BAYLESS was dealt that would have been a sweet return !

I'd do that as long as it was only 1 1st rounder.

The sooner that management realizes that Landry is not a starting PF the better everything will be. The worst part about it is that he fits with our second unit to a T:

1) He has issues playing against bigger, more skilled players. Put him on the bench and he's playing against guys who are smaller, less skilled, or both.
2) Our team has 3 guys who I trust to consistently create their own offense: Evans, Udrih, & Landry. Cousins could be there soon but not yet. With Udrih & Evans both starting, bringing Landry in off the bench means the Kings will always have a guy in their who can create offense.

I said at the start of the year and I still believe this: start Cousins with Dalembert. Cousins may be on the slow side laterally but that's why you put Dalembert on the stronger offensive player.

I agree with oyou about 1000%.

I've said since we obtained him that although I LIKE Carl as a player and for having made himself have value, I see him as the ideal sixth man, not a starter. The fact is that - especially in the West - you HAVE to be big at the 5 AND the 4 AND the 3. You just can't compete night in and night out. Last ight was a PERFECT example. When Minny was running Love at the 4, Carl just couldn't do SQUAT. He cannot mtch up against a PF who is both bigger and just as laterally fast as he is.

If you add in the nice little find that Jackson has become, then you realize that the rotation is pretty nicely set to develop with Daly/DMC/JT/Jackson and Carl is really the odd man out who still has nice trade value to package for something we really need (i.e. a 1/2 who can shoot the 3 consistently).

We traded a SG who cant defend for a PF who cant rebound. sound about right

Kenny Thomas aka tough luck
Shareef Abdur-Rahim aka sar
Mikki moore aka and one
Jason Thomson aka i cant finish around the rim
Carl Landry aka if u pass me the ball you are probably not going to get it back unless you get the offensive rebound because im certainly not gonna do it.

since webber retired we cant seem to find a good PF.

Oh hell yeah, Daly keeps going like this and he's due for a 5 year deal easy. I'm at the point where I want to see the frontcourt minutes be more focused around Daly, Cousins, and Darnell Jackson. Landry getting 6 shots a game is stupid since you're really getting mostly iso scoring from him. Either focus more of the offense around him or move on.

And from what we've seen in these recent low minute spurts Dalembert can handle it. Sometimes he leaks off his man back down into the paint forgetting what he's doing but he even hung with Beasley on switch offs last game. Dude can handle it and he makes it pretty tough for guys trying to shoot over him. Lateral movement is the key and Dalembert is quick enough to hang most nights.

Landry + 1st rounder for OJ Mayo

The Grizz won't be able to afford both Z-Bo and Mayo. And it looks like Xavier Henry can take Mayo's spot. So lets get him and form our big 3 of the future
Reke + DMC + Mayo

Nah, not adding a first to that deal. Well, depends on the protection.
