Vince Young Considered Retirement

Post#1 » by Buck You » Tue May 27, 2008 2:20 am

Vince Young is known for escaping pressure. The quarterback almost took that to extremes.

The Tennessee Titans 2006 Rookie of the Year told NFL.com in an interview posted on Monday that he considered retirement after his first season.

Young

"I really thought long and hard about it," Young told the Web site. "There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things.

"My teammates helped lift me out of it. I prayed really hard. And I began to focus on God's calling for me. Play football. Be a role model."

Wow, that's kind of weird. Well, at least he's a better man now.

Yeah it must be no fun being an NFL QB when you have no receivers to throw to.

Good to see a man thinking of his family before himself.

I can only imagine how shocking, and how disappointing that would have been for the fans, the NFL and the Titans.

The Madden curse would have gone to an extreme there.

So wanting to retire with Norm Chow there and then no longer wanting to retire with Norm Chow gone = luckily Norm Chow was there?

You would think Vince is a ten year vet.

Technically that would not have been because of the Madden curse. The article says he thought about retiring after his ROOKIE year. He was named to be on the cover after his rookie year and before his second year so therefore he would have had to retire after his second year, not his rookie year, to have the madden curse take effect.

He thought about it for about one second then realizes how much easier it would be for his family to live off his millions.
