Question about Kevin Love
I do not get to see any Twolves games but I follow the game links on NBA.com and was just wondering what the go is with Kevin Love and his offensive rebounding. I mean every game I follow I read the same sequence of plays over and over again as follows:
K.Love offensive rebound
K. Love missed tip in
K.Love offensive rebound
K.Love missed tip in
Does the guy even try to get the ball in the ring or does he just try and increase his rebounding numbers by missing deliberately so he can get another rebound???
Anyway not trying to knock him or anything I just find it strange that I see the same sequence of plays over and over again with him.
Aside from that I think the Twolves are on the right track, they are just very young and need time to Gel. Bringing Flynn and Webster back will help dramatically. Beasley needs to continue to develop into the team leader and be the man!

Re: Question about Kevin Love
He's not deliberately missing, he's trying to get a tip in over guys that are taller and more athletic than him. His FG% has been suffering accordingly.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
He gets his shot blocked a lo, so sometimes he throws it up awkwardly in order to avoid it. It leads to more misses but he's just such a good offensive rebounder that he can usually get the tip/offensive rebound as well.
Of course, then he just repeats what I described above.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
To my eye, he is actually improved at scoring around the rim this year. He is starting to score on his post up moves at a decent clip where last year a lot of those would have been blocked - or wildly thrown at the rim to avoid getting blocked. I would say that he is also scoring a bit better on his offensive rebounds, but I'm a little less certain of this one. As big3 eluded to, there are times he'll get to an offensive rebound that he has no business getting to, but doesn't have a chance to bring it down, so he tips it towards the basket instead.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
Yeah, I hear people talk about his inflated rebounding numbers, but inflated or not, he is inarguably one of the best rebounders in the league. If his rebounding stats are slightly inflated, his lowered FG% offsets that as he gets his fingertips on tip attempts that someone with his physical attributes has no business getting to. I hate to say that his rebounding stats are inflated, though they may be slightly, because it sounds like I'm trying to take away from his rebounding ability. Truth be told he is one of the best, if not the best offensive rebounder in the league.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
If he continues to show the hustle he did the last 2 games, then his stats aren't inflated. I'm actually happy eating crow and admitting that, if he's turned the corner now, then he's the perfect 3rd or 4th option the team could use.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
I think they are inflated but not because of offensive rebounding. I will take that kind of hustle any day of the week
Offensive hustle has never been his problem, its all about his defense. I think his numbers are inflated due to playing off of his man to get rebounds or not rotating to open shooters in order to stay close to the rim. IMO. As people have said, he does not have the physical attributes to be getting the rebounds he is getting. He is a very smart player and knows how to create space, but he is also smart enough to know that he needs his numbers to get media attention.
If he plays passable defense he will probably go down to around 11 or 12 per 36.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
Inflated? like nobody else in the NBA misses shots and gets their own rebound? He had 12 offensive boards tonight, should he only have 10? Some of you guys... the man can board with the best of them.

My only question about Kevin Love is will you take Amare Stoudemire for him straight up?

24 boards against the Lakers says something about his rebounding.

Re: Question about Kevin Love
Kevin has always been aware that he's vulnerable to getting his shot blocked. Note that he never goes up strong on the put back. He always lays it in because he's not athletic. You lay it in anticipating a block and it will look like what you think

Re: Question about Kevin Love
Kluv has a league leading 103defensive boards ...second is 92, and Howard has 72. So love's league leading offensive boards of 60 is legit. also,,,maybe he's a genius who has figured out a way to tap to himself ....not to pad stats but merely to insure a board. Ever think of that?
