Jason Thompson anyone?

Post#1 » by Flaming Mo » Fri Nov 12, 2010 9:55 pm

Here is a guy who is young, has great size and good bball skills, I would love for the Knicks to go after him. He would help us to balance out our roster since we really only have three real big men right now (Amare, Mozgov, Turiaf) and he would give us an additional young player to develop. Knowing D'Antoni though, he would also bury him on the bench and not take advantage of the size we could put out there...

Just thought it is interesting how the Kings want to part with him that early and not pair him with Cousins down the road...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Yeah, I had posted about him about a week or so back. We still need to bring our assets up a bit and figure out what we have in our young players but a strong rebounder up front would be great. Especially if Mozgov doesn't start to put it together.

Well if D'Antoni is deadset on Amare at C, the 6'11" Thompson at PF would make more sense than Chandler.

He has skills but he's very foul prone. I would trade Anthony Randolph for him but I doubt the Kings would...

Another draft blunder on this team? Posters would have fits.

Thompson is a nice player, just solid across the board and can rebound. He just doesn't seem to fit with the new direction that the Kings are going and they probably should shop him. Next to Cousins they need someone that plays defense and can probably stretch the floor a bit.

Honestly, I think we have a good group of young athletic players and some vets that are good players as well. We don't need anyone new on our team other than a seasoned post player that can defend as well. But, even without that, we can win. Our problem is not the players. Mr. Walsh has done a decent job with getting our roster together. The problem is with the coaching staff. The team has to feel like a team to play like a team, and this is required to win because basketball is a team sport. It is a team sport on both ends of the floor. The team needs leadership that is proficient enough for the players, vets and younger guys, to follow. I don't feel that the players feel confident in rallying behind the current coaching staff, and the team dynamic is suffering because of it. For what reason, I don't know. It could be that the staff is incompetent, insulting to the players, or just not good team builders. One thing is for sure: team defense is not a by product of Antoni at the helm. It is time to get him some help on the coaching staff, or get rid of him.

We shouldn't trade for him, I don't think I advocated that we should. All I said is that on the new look Kings he doesn't really have a role.

He's a nice player and has a nice outside shot. I don't think the Knicks have anything that Sacramento would want for the trade. I think this doesn't address the Knicks biggest need which is another outside shooter, but he will help with rebounding which isn't a bad thing at all. I can see Indiana making a big play for him though.

Jason Thompson, Donte Greene and Marcus Thorton are all out of their team's rotation. These players would improve our team immensely if we acquired them.

Chandler has way more value than Thompson who cant get off the bench there. I would look to trade someone like Walker for him, might not be enough but atleast it would balance our bench out a bit. When Azubuike comes back, theres no place for Walker on this team unless we make some changes...
