The A's pick up Edwin Encarnacion on waiver claim from Toronto. Busy week for Billy Beane & David Forst.

Wow, I didn't see that one coming in terms of a team picking him up from a waiver claim. He hit more home runs than anyone on the A's did last year. Could be a solid move for them in terms of getting a strong but inconsistant bat in their lineup but he's gonna struggle playing 3B

The Jays were likely going to non-tender EE anyway so no loss here. I don't think this will turn out well for EE as Oakland has a huge ball park that doesn't seem suited for a power guy like him. Who knows though. He is a free agent after 2011. Weird things happen during contract years.

I believe he's gone outright with nothing in return.

No, he's really good friends with Jose Bautista and he made him feel welcomed when we acquired him.

Not a really big loss for us. I won't miss him.

I thought he was a free agent. How was he placed on waivers?

Yep, but if there isn't anyone on the market at the right price, we don't have to; Lewis can play caretaker until Thames is ready.

This is Rios lite. Clears up salary for flexibility. I guess there is alot of faith in drafting a few good prospects as well and having someone fill in.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
