Heh, scout tells Yahoo this is going to be the worst draft since 2006.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... zzer111210

NBA scouts project the 2011 draft to be lean on top talent, and the pool of prospects could be even more shallow if some college underclassmen and international prospects don’t enter the draft for fear of a potential lockout. One scout likened this year’s class to the 2006 draft, when the Toronto Raptors took Andrea Bargnani(notes) with the No. 1 pick. That draft has so far produced just two All-Stars: Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy(notes) (No. 6) and Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo(notes) (No. 21).

North Carolina freshman swingman Harrison Barnes could go as No. 1 pick in 2011 and has the potential to be a difference-maker for an NBA team. But scouts are projecting few others.

“This is a bad draft,” one scout said. “There will be a lot of players there, but no one special.”

Yahoo's Top 10 prospects at the link. Top 3? Barnes, Jones, Irving, as expected.

As long as the draft is four deep in quality we should be OK.

Jones drive and pass, that was sick, he`s got some nice dribbles too, he`s more exciting to watch than Barnes

Two under-the-radar prospects on this board:

Jared Sullinger (Ohio St): 19 pts. (6-10 FGs) 14 rebs.

Terrence Jones (Kentucky): 25 pts (10-19 FGs, 3-10 FTs) 12 rebs.

Freshman Doron Lamb, G, also on Kentucky, 20 pts 5 rebs. 3 Asts.

And then you have your notable, hyped prospects:

Brandon Knight, G, (Kentucky) 17 pts (4-7 3pt FGs) 4 rebs. 5 asts.

Harrison Barnes (UNC) 16 pts (7-14 FGs)

John Henson (UNC) 10 pts (5-11 FGs) 16 rebs 7 BLKs

Wow Sullinger is really beasting. I can picture Ohio State this year better than the Turner`s team last year.

A so so game for him, he wasn't attacking at all, when he has the ball in his hand he hesitates alot and always pass it back out, but things will get better for him as season progresses I guess.

4 assists
1 steal
2 block
7 TO's
2 Fouls

4 for 11

I watched the whole game

Positives in this game:

Incredible dribbling skills, Baylor let him bring the ball up to mid court like how Lakers do with Lamar Odom, he knows knows how to find his teammates in transition, very athletic, got a dunk from an alley-oop in the fast break, did a shot fake, blow by and hammer it down on the rim. Overall, he is very solid, I never seen a 6' 10 guy dribbles the ball like he does.

Negatives in this game:

7 turnovers were stemmed from wide pass, couple times he laser beam the ball to the teammates but they couldn't catch the ball that fast. For his size, he should be able to grab more rebounds but he never box out or fight for position, he let the game comes to him thus very unselfish but really should attack the basket because he has the ball in his hand alot. His shots were off, he had an open 3 and open 2 but missed them, He needs to improve his free throws too

Overall, he's pretty good.

Thanks for the recap.... I was hoping to watch the games on the Rogers Sports package
but they didn't have any. How did you watch them? Over the net?

I've been mostly interested in Perry Jones because of his skillset for his size....

I think he has the most upside out of any of the top 3...

He reminds me of a baby Durant mixed in with some Josh Smith/Rudy Gay....

A 6'10 player who can dribble the ball that well and can shoot is extremely intriguing
especially since he can play defense and rebound.

I have a bad vibe from Barnes.... From the game film that I've seen from him he looks solid
but not superstar potential.

I also like Irving so looking forward to seeing him play...

Any reports on Selby? im looking for a boxscore....

Looks like Sullinger had a good night and Fab Melo had a rough night

Mostly junk games tonight - elite prospects for the most part played garbage opponents, so can't read too much into the games. Should be better competition in some of the pre-conference tournaments which will be going on for the rest of November.

I watched them over online streams. Barnes is okay, not flashy but he has an insane work ethic and the drive, superstar wise not sure, he'll be someone like Luol Deng a "scorer" not a star forward type I guess. Jones can be very special, but some players with insane talent didn't turn out to be stars like they should have been so I worry that about him. However, we'll see how they play as season progresses. Selby is sitting on the bench waiting to be cleared by NCAA, so he won't play till then (prolly sitting out a few games)

I've seen Sullinger played in Jordan Brand and All American game, he's a beast on the glass, can knock down shots from far distance, and has a polised post up game too.

truthrising wrote:guys, anyone know much about Kemba Walker? he seems like another option we can grab at the PG spot. He's currently ranked 12th in the draft xpress mock draft. What I do like about him is the scouting report:

The 6’0 point guard has increased his production across the board, and also improved on his outside shooting, which is no longer as much of a weakness as it once was. Arguably the fastest guard in college basketball getting from one end of the court to another

As a point guard, Walker has a lot of good tools, excelling in the pick-and-roll game and showing good court vision in general, capable of making tough passes to cutters in the lane. He does a pretty good job of moving the ball around the floor and finding open shooters, keeping his head up for the most part when initiating the offense.

Would you guys include him to the mix of pg's available along with Irving, Knight and Selby?

Kemba's proven at this point, I think he's solid but I don't see a lot of upside with him. He's not worth a top pick imo, but he would be a solid pickup with the Miami pick...although personally I would take any of CoJo, Marshall, or Harrow over him if they were available, because I think they have more upside to their games.

Marshall had a very solid first game imo, in 11 minutes off the bench he had 10 points (4/5 FG), 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Harrow also came off the bench last night and in 24 minutes, had 16 points (4/12 FG, 8/8 FT), 4 assists. In his other game he had 17 points (7/11 FG), 8 assists, and 1 steal in 20 minutes off the bench.

I watched a little bit of Jones III, and the only thing that sticks out to me is his handle for his size. He's very comfortable with the ball in his hands. He reminds me of Odom, a little bit. His shot doesn't look great, but it'll probably be good enough with some work. I really don't see a superstar in there, he doesn't have the edge.

If I'm not mistaken Selby is sitting out for a recruitment violation or something like that.
