so far, he hasn't been the Leafs' brightest player.
the worst part? tanking can't happen, since there isn't a draft pick.
you can hear the cheers getting louder in Beantown

Re: Phaneuf out 4-6 weeks with laceration
remember how bad the yashin deal was when the nyi picked him up? burke's trading of what may very well be two lottery picks may surpass that in idiocy.
i just hope that this deal won't set the franchise back much like what happened in ny.
"On draft day, 2001, Yashin was sent to the New York Islanders for defenseman Zdeno Chára, forward Bill Muckalt and the second overall draft selection, which the Senators used to draft highly-touted centerman Jason Spezza.[6] Islanders' GM Mike Milbury promptly re-signed Yashin to an enormous 10-year, $87.5 million USD contract. Although his contract was reduced by 24 percent due to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed in 2005, Yashin was widely considered to be grossly overpaid and virtually untradeable."
draw up any parallels?

Re: Phaneuf out 4-6 weeks with laceration
The Kessel deal is turning out to be one of the worst deals of all time for the Leafs.
The thing is if Kessel brought it every game, and was a legitimate 40 goal scorer, I could live with the trade even if I didn't agree with it.
But he disappears for games at a time, is soft, and is a one-dimensional player. Teams with good D like the Bruins appear to be able to shut him right down. Wouldn't he want to score against his old team?

Slump aside, Kessel is on pace for 41 goals.
Boston has his number though, for some reason beyond their defence.

"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

He hasn't scored in 6 games.
If he scores 30, it will be a miracle.

I was reading that wiki page and saw this at the end.
Nov 10, 2010, Recent rumours have him signing a deal with the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs.
