Al breaking out of blackhole habits pretty quickly.
He had six assists last night and was acting pretty quickly in the post as well and the team managed to run the offense while he was posting up which hadn't happened in previous games. Developing really quickly in this offense.

As expected.
After Sloan made that comment about him being a bit of a Ball stopper I knew within a couple of weeks that wouldn't be a problem anymore.
You can tell he respects Sloan

I think he has also figured out that if he passes out of double teams or is always hitting open cutters or spot up shooters, it will free him up on the offensive end as well. I can't imagine how many points that Malone scored were as a result of loosening up defenses with his amazing passing.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

He's also not trying to post his man so much as, making a quick spin move or turn around jumper. When he holds the ball too much he travels or looses the ball. The best thing he can do is dish the ball out if he can't get his quickly. Looks like he's going to be just fine.

Boozer let the opposing PF look like an all-star much of the time, and Al suffers from the same problem. He has the body to be an amazing rebounder, but needs to keep on top of his man. This is just as worrisome for me as his passing.

Well, to be fair, most of the opponent's boards are off of ackward rebounds and long rebounds. The other thing is that Al contests way way WAY more shots than Boozer ever did, and that takes him out of position. His apparent "bad boxing" out isn't as bad as some think (It's not perfect either BTW). I for one like the effort Al gives on both O and D and can live with it.
Memo will help out on the boads a LOT when he returns.

OK, I hear what you're saying, but he just gave up 20 freaking rebounds to Nazr Mohammed... I mean COME ON!

Haha, listen if we chastise boozer for making opposing pf/c look like allstars, Jefferson gets the same treatment. He played awful defense. I was watching the game and AL convinced me that Nazr was Dwight Howard.
EDIT* interesting trivia, Last night was the 2nd time Nazr has ever gone for 20/20. When was the last time Nazr went for 20pts 20 reb?
Answer: Feb of 20010 against the T wolves, when he was matched up with....Jefferson.

But if you watched the game you saw no difference with Nazr when Fes was in so... That's the main reason I'm not blaming it all on Al. I guess it was one of those nights for him.

I've noticed a lot of offensive boards come when they help out defending the basket, but in turn lose their guys. Both Al and Sap have been burned many times by their guy cleaning up after they left to stop the person driving in. Hard to box out when you are in the air trying to contest a shot.
