Revisiting Love for Smith

Post#1 » by Stephen S » Fri Nov 12, 2010 6:23 pm

Smith to Wolves

Ellington to Miami

Love, Chalmers, and Pittman to Atlanta

Miami needs a 3 point shooting pg....insert Ellington, especially since he will not need to be a 'play maker' in their offense.

Atlanta needs size up front...insert Love, Pittman and...if they will take him...Koufos. Chalmers can also be a 3rd pg behind Bibby and Teague. (though I would think we should just try and get Chalmers for ourselves rather than sign Gaines, but w/e).

We need to upgrade the athleticism in the post...insert Josh Smith.

This is just putting the rumors together (Wiretap had a post on Miami wanting a 3 point shooting pg about a month ago...far too lazy to find the link). I have not come to find the idea of the Wolves having two 'tweener' forwards starting and being our focus on offense is a good idea. Not to mention how we will deal with back to the basket power forwards (Al Jefferson, etc.).

Miami says no. We give up Chalmers AND Pittman (A raw young Center) for Ellington.. no thnx

Chalmers sucks, but I doubt Miami wants to give Pittman when they already very weak in the Center position.Plus Ellington is shooting 28% from 3...

Ellington has been taking on a larger role this year...and has struggled. Last year he shot nearly 40% and that was after starting out very slowly, if I remember right. Pittman hasn't seen the floor this season...I get the feeling he is not considered part of their/your 'depth' except in a blowout. Championship teams don't really need 'raw young centers,' especially yours. Your teams needs a old big defensive center that is content to get all his scoring on put backs and broken plays.

Ridnour makes more sense than Ellington. Ellington is a 2. I'd throw in Koufos or a 2nd rounder as well.

Or Bassy. He's a proven point who likes to shoot 3's. He even makes some, and has been playing well.

We have no real 2nd round picks to give for several years, but Miami might be interested in Koufos.

Not sure I do this, though. I think Love is believing what Rambis and Laimbeer are teaching him right now, and I'd like to see what happens for this season at least. I think Smith is closer to his ceiling than Love, and Smith's freakish hops are going to give out faster than Love's smarts anyway.

Does anyone know what the Rockets offered Minny for Love a few days go? It said in the report that the Rockets offered Minny several trade scenario packages, but Minny had balked at it. Some have said that the Rockets offered Aaron Brooks and Chase Budinger for Love.

Heh, yeah that's kind of accurate... what can I say? Great game from Love, but I prefer Smith.
