Game 9: Seattle at Arizona

Game 9 find the 'Hawks tied up to a chair in the basement of the Riddler with injuries, fighting for a division lead, and hoping that the previous two weeks worth of utter helplessness isn't part of this episode. Holy Red birds Robin, this is the time to hammer out a win.

Injury update:

Seahawks-
Okung (LT) is a question mark after practicing in limited fashion with the ankle. Cole (DT) ankle is fatter than even normal. Tate(WR) has an ankle sprain. M-Robinson(FB) is doubtful with a hammy. Brock (DE) status unknown with back probelems. Tatupu (LB) suffering from a knee's status is questionable. Williams (WR) is suffering from an unspecified finger problem. Mike Gibson out with ankle sprain(G)

Cardinals
LB Paris Lenon (ankle). RB Beanie Wells (knee)

Things to Watch:

1-The line of scrimmage, or maybe more appropriately over the last two games- the scene of the crime. Having lost two starting guards and two Tackles on O and Cole, Mebane, and Bryant on D left us light and untalented on both lines of scrimmage. This week Polumbus is back, Okung may be, Mebane should be back, and we'll hope the line can hold Branch, Dockett and Hightower in check respectively.

2-Matt's happy feet. Coming off a head injury and always the a little antsy anyhow after years of abuse, Matt will have to keep from turning the ball over or rushing throws while routes develop.

3-Mike Williams drops. A finger cannot help the situation of two major drops in two games. He needs a return to his return player of the year candidate form or beware of the fans turning on him.

4-Larry vs ? Thurmond looked alot better vs Fitzgerald than Midget Jennings has, but Jennings is 1st on the depth chart, so who gets the start?

5-Anderson at QB- he can be very good at time, but we're hoping he helps Earl's pro bowl bid.

6- Dirty deeds done dirt cheep- the Redbirds have Dirty Dockett waiting there to poke Matt's eye out or crush his throat at the bottom of any pile. What shenanigans do we see this time?

7. Blowout QB situation... Do we see Charlie if we are on either end of a complete blowout? If it's on the losing side, is that all for Matt?

Predictions-

28-10 Arizona
We are left wondering why injuries are so brutal every year and not really knowing if it is Hass' bad and time to season charlie or not for yet another week.

The Hawks are coming off two terrible losses in a row. It's hard to imagine them suddenly turning things around, at least enough to come up with a key victory on the road in their division against a mediocre at best team. But you never know.

I'm inclined to think it will be a close game, but that the Cards win something like 20-16. I could see a bunch of FG's in this game.

That INT by Whitehurst on the first drive in the 2nd half might be all that I need to see of him to know that he's NOT going to be our starting QB of the future. Good Lord! That was a HORRIBLE decision by Charlie on that pass. Nothing good could have come of that. Killed our momentum, our chance to gain some real control of the game.

The last drive of the first half, and the first drive of the second half we gave away at least 6 points, 2 FG's. We've got to stop doing this. Make sure we get our points that we've got coming to us.

See? There's nothing wrong with FG's. We've extended the lead to 16 points this half on account of 3 of them.

That was an awful pass by Charlie...but Hass threw the same pick in game one.

Curry has been a force today, making tackles, getting to the QB, and causing a fumble that likely puts the game out of reach. FINALLY!!!

Arizona's offense has been TERRIBLE today. Thank God for us.

One more FG will do it.

Yes, we needed this game. Then hopefully our OL can get a little healthier.

God I love Washington.

Hasselbeck's been great today. So far, 21/30, 311 yards, I TD, 0 INT's, 114.7 passer rating. Can't ask for much more than that.

A healthy line of Okung, Pitts, Spencer, Andrews, and Polumbus works for me. For this year anyway

That FG should do it. Now how about a morale crushing INT from Thomas?

That'e where Okung is really needed on the OL, on those short yardage situations. He mauls, and pushes the pack back in front of him.

Now...can the 49ers PLEASE come back and beat the Rams? That would make it a very good weekend for the Hawks.

Why the EFF can't we just run the EFFING ball to take time off the clock? It's pissing me off this not playing the percentages and the clock.

Yes! Down goes Anderson again. Now tack on another TD and run the clock out...

This is a pretty simple proposition for the Hawks from here on out. Win our games at home. 7 games remaining, 4 of them at home against Kansas City, Carolina, Atlanta (a tough one), and the Rams. Win these 4 home games, and we finish 9-7, win the division, and get home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Now all they have to do is do it.

Matt threw that same interception that Charie did for an entire year his first year. Doesn't mean I'm not watching several guys for the draft.

Curry- only those types of days can keep the boards from knocking him. I'm glad to see him respond after he had the twitter hissy fit last game when fans were all over him.

Matt- YAY Charlie, the best thing you ever did was make the old man fear for his job.
