If that is the case, then why would you rank Magic ahead of Kobe on the all time list?

I don't see why it's so ridiculous.

Kobe's resume as a Laker is really impressive, not sure why top 3 is LOL worthy.

uhm well he's ahead of West, Shaq, Baylor, Chamberlain and Goodrich... so that leaves Kareem and Magic up for debate
dude has 26,000 points and 5 titles as a Laker among countless other records, awards and accolades.

Maybe your refering to peak play and in that case, i agree. I can only think of 3 players that were absolutely better than him though.
As a Laker great, he has his case for being in the top 3.

dumb post
Magic is the only player i put definitively ahead of Kobe on the all time Laker list, Kobe/West/Kareem are interchangeable.

outside of magic it's really debatable and i wouldn't want to pick between kobe, shaq, kareem and west.

Re: Is Kobe a Top 3 Laker?
Has a good argument for third. I have Kareem and Magic definitely ahead of him. After that, you have Baylor, West, Kobe and Shaq at a similar stage. (Mikan probably belongs somewhere around there, but due to playing in the Pliocene era of basketball, gets discounted, possibly unfairly).
I disqualify Shaq primarily due to length of tenure. Baylor and West had the misfortune of playing during the Celtics dynasty, but the Logo has literally iconic status for a reason wheras Baylor seems very much to have been on a lower tier.
There appears to be a cigarette paper between West and Kobe, with Kobe generally getting the nod due to the MVP (which West never really sniffed, and neither would Kobe against Wilt and Russ) and multiple titles (which I'd argue West didn't have the team to compete for until late in his career). So Kobe and West battling it out for third is probably where I'm at.

I got
Magic
West
Shaq
Kobe
Kareem
West was not only a great player but an even greater GM. Without West there will not be Shaq, Kobe and 3 straight rings.
Shaq dominated the game when he was here was nothing like I ever seen. Including MJ. He had the greatest prime I ever seen. He would be #2 in my book but I did not like the way he left the team.

I view the all-time list & Top Laker list a little differently. West is ahead of Shaq on my Laker list too, even though Shaq is higher on my all-time list. There's an extra element added. Bird is the Top Celtic for many, even though they may have Russell higher on the all-time list, or vice-versa.
Here's how the Top Lakers rank in certain categories:
Championship Shares:
Kobe - 16.8
Magic - 16.2
Shaq - 12.2
Kareem - 10.1
West - 1.0
Baylor - 0.0
MVP Shares:
Magic - 5.129
Kobe - 3.409
Kareem - 2.997
Shaq - 2.618
West - 2.090
Baylor - 1.659
All-NBA 1st teams:
West - 10
Baylor - 10
Magic - 9
Kobe - 8
Kareem - 6
Shaq - 6

There is no reason for Kobe to be ahead of Magic on the All-time Lakers list, and I think that most Lakers fans would agree with me.

Actually, most laker fans say Kobe is #1 now. Even West, Shaq, & Magic say it's Kobe.

no way in hell would most Laker fans that aren't 15 years old put Kobe about Magic.

Re: Is Kobe a Top 3 Laker?
I actually find Kobe being listed at number 1 a lot less absurd than non-Laker fans having Shaq in the top 4.

*Garth voice* Yes way.
This topic came up big time last year, and on TV, the radio, message boards, and just in general, most picked Kobe.
