We really miss Matt Harpring

Our shooting and inconsistency from the wing position is our biggest weakness. We dont have anyone who can hit that foul line rub play. I would say we miss Korver too but he just didnt fit in our salary structure. Its too bad Harpring doesnt still have 15 minutes a night in him, he would be just perfect while we wait for Hayward to gain his confidence.

All this brings up the subject of what veteran could possibly be bought out near the trade deadline and or possibly brought in to help us out?

The Jazz have plenty of veterans. When Okur comes back he'll add outside shooting and another veteran. Landry Fields, a rookie shooting guard of the Knicks is a guy who is tailor made for the Jazz. He moves well without the basketball and has a high BBIQ. He also went to Stanford. I wish the Jazz could pick him up without giving up too much.

Fields is a good fit for us.I hope we go look at somethink cheep for SG because Bell is really missing everything right now.

Bell will start to pick it up. He was out of the league all of last season, give him a few weeks to get back into the swing of things.

I do think the Jazz will pursue a trade this year however, they will want to add wing depth before the playoffs, especially if Hayward isn't contributing coming trade deadline.

They are going to need to add a pure shooter to compete in the playoffs, hopefully one can be picked up for relatively little. Memo should help quite a bit as well in this aspect if he can play.

Why are we so obsessed with wings? We need an interior defender much more than another mediocre wing. Are we focusing on jumpshots because we all just given up on the idea of protecting the rim?

Also, why are we so obsessed with 15 mpg veterans? If you pack your roster with washed up roleplayers, you won't have anywhere to grow. Play Hayward and Evans at the wing, absorb the growing pains, and then we can get off our crack addiction of old veterans for something that can last.

How many swingmen do we need?

This isn't a question about number in either case; It's a question of quality and addressing our weaknesses. I think we are significantly less effective at guarding the rim than we are at hitting the curl shots on offense. I also think it is a mistake to focus on making midrange jumpers when we can't protect the rim like contender should. If we ever want to graduate to be an elite team, we need Fesenko to improve significantly, or we need to get someone who can block shots and enforce in the paint. We can get by with committee playmaking, not with committe interior defense, imo.
