Trade idea with Denver?

Post#1 » by BobsBuddy » Mon Nov 15, 2010 3:54 pm

I really believe that MJ,and LB can influence both Denvers front office to trade and Carmello to come to Charlotte now and pursue him next year for a contract.
Trade checker 5735207 Anthony and Billups incoming --Wallace/ Diaw/Diop/Najera/(Collins?/Henderson?or 2012 protected top 10 1st outgoing).
Why for Denver-they get both Diaw/Wallace/ 2012 First
Why for Charlotte--they get the franchise star in Mello to sell tickets and Billups large expiring/plus his production at point or 2 position this year. Charlotte again makes playoffs, fills the cable box and next year use part of Billups expiring salary to sign Mello.
If there is a strike then they both walk and Charlotte has a large cash position to rebuild. :o :-?

I wonder if Higgens has already thought of something like this? I know Mello wants to play in large market as NYK, but playing for MJ building a smaller one has its merits also?

I personally doubt the Nuggets are ading tons of salary if its not to make Melo happier in their team.Just think that they would be stucked with Diop/Wallace for at least 2-3 years, and they´d lose both Carmelo and Billups,if they want to trade them they´ll look for other assets like expirings and draft picks. And I don´t think Hendo/Pick is worth the value of two superstars.

Carmelo has one L. That is the only thing worth saying about this proposal, because Denver would spit in MJ's face if he offered it.

Paydro--you are probably right. How about Jax/Wallace/Diaw/Najera/2011 protected first for Billups and Mello
Bobcats start
Billups/Livingston/Collins
DJ/Hendo/Carroll
Mello/D. Brown
Thomas/Mcguire/Rogers from D league
Nazr/Diop/K.Brown
2 spots open/ sign another d league swing man/Alllot of players on this roster that can play multiple positions
Make 7-8 seed in playoffs for second straight year
Nazr /Billups expiring contracts to help sign Mello in 2011
Immediately SELL LOTS MORE TICKETS!
I like this idea better. I don't think Denver would spit in MJ's face for this offer do you?

Guys, there is no way Carmelo comes here, period.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The sad reality is that the only valuable assets Charlotte has are Wallace and to a lesser degree DJ (and to an even lesser degree UPS/Hendo/Nazr's expiring).

The best they can hope to get in return for Diaw and Jack is a second rate prospect and salary relief from a contender who is looking to win now. No mid major playoff team or lottery team has any interest in Jack because he is both aging and expensive. As predicted, they overpaid Tyrus Thomas and while he is a good enery guy, few teams will want to touch that contract.

Diop/Najara/Carroll are all counter assets - In other words, their bloated contracts are toxic and including them in any trade will serve only to diminish the value of whatever we get in return. This is especially true with Diop.

And again, as Paydro points out, Carmelo has only one "L"

I don't think we want Melo's defense anyway. Especially if we had to give up Wallace. I think we'd still be a good defensive team but I doubt we could crack the top 8 in points allowed. Offensively we'd have better options though.

If we somehow didn't give up wallace, I guess he or Melo would play the 4. Could Wallace really play the 2? I mean we know he's fast and quick but...

Melo could come here but it would be for a one-year (or half-year) rental. If you're going to rebuild after the season, it wouldn't be a bad idea to trade for him I guess. You could always get Cleveland/Toronto compensation when he leaves next year.

If you really wanted Carmelo:

Trade Jax to New Orleans and grab Peja in return.
Hope that Denver is desperate to drop 'Melo and has no other offers.
Send Peja and Wallace or Tyrus (if you remember, Denver was interested in signing Tyrus this off-season) for 'Melo and JR Smith (remove Smith if including Tyrus).

Worst-case: 17-24m+ extra in cap space to start rebuilding this summer.
Best-case: We acquire a franchise player on the cheap.

But, it won't happen because there will be at least one desperate team with more pieces than we have to make a move.

They just meant that it's CarmeLo, not CarmeLLo. Just one "L" in his name, not two.

We can't trade the 2011 first, because we already traded away 2010 and 2012.

I just don't see the point for Denver. So they can get worse, while also taking on more salary? Their best bet remains hoping that Melo picks the fatter contract at the end of the season, and failing that, rebuilding with the huge amount of cap space that would be left by his departure, the expiration of K-Mart's deal, and the voiding of Billups' contract. They'd have 30m in salary, so they'd be able to offer two max deals to new free agents... or perhaps more likely, wait until 2012 and run at Chris Paul.

Speaking of a potential trade for the bobcats:
Anyone think a Jax (CHA) for Thornton (NO) & Peja (NO) could happen, after all it looks like New Orleans is trying to ship Marcus Thornton out....

I don't know if they want Jax. He's not quite the spot up shooter that they could really use to benefit from Paul. Jax is used to having the ball in his hands.

Well they are stupid enough to not start marcus in the first place, so we have a 50/50 chance

I'm just saying they'd probably rather get someone else, not that they wouldn't take it.

Like I heard before, S-Jax won't be traded unless he nets us someone better.

Marcus in the long term is better, jax will be in the league another 4 years max at the rate hes going, marcus has another 11 years on him, and based off last year he will have a great career

If so, then one would think that keeping the much cheaper Thornton is the better idea, no?
