You think the Score would have highlights of the game tonight?

Pros: Good quickness, good ball handle, didn't turn over much, very vocal, doesn't try to do too much, has a point guard mentality - pass to the right guy to score. He'll attack when he has to, and attacks with good body control. He has good shooting range, he'll hit 3 pointers (unlike Wall/Tyreke/Rose), defensively, he's aggressively, good hands, deflect couple passes, when he steals he'll start a fastbreak either go all the way to the basket aggressively or pass when he sees teammates open on fastbreak

Cons: Very unselfish, he can score anytime if he wants to, he can penetrate easily but he puts his team in first priority, he's facing a very week guard so it's uncertain how he'll respond when he faces guys like Brandon Knight or Selby. So far he doesn't show any weaknesses, so far so good

From what I read, Knight gave him a lot of trouble when they met in high school, I guess his length was bothersome for Kyrie. It should be interesting to see how he matches up against the bigger PG prospects this year. Kid looks very promising so far.

I don't doubt that he will be a good defender at the college level eventually, the next level.. ehhh we'll see.

Although I am not surprised that you and I saw the game with a different perspective, considering how differently we rate D Rose.

If I were to take a stab at where he will be at in the NBA in 5 years I would guess top 10 PG, but not top 5. Although this is all extremely early.

I don't know where you rate D Rose. I havn't even seen him yet this year but in the past his D stunk imo. not really sure what that has to do with our opinions of Irving.

I've gotta see more of him to try and peg where he'll be in the NBA.

I thought

very good defensivly. especially for a frosh in his 1st game. I do question his size for defense at the next level but it looks like he could have a CP3 type effect of knowing where to be, where to get steals, and using his speed.

I thought he displayed very good ball handeling skills and looks like he'll have that "herky jerky" ability to weave through a defense. However I don't think he displayed blazing quickness like Aaron Brooks type guys, or athletisim of a john wall. Still very good speed though, and ability to stop and go quickly.

He doesn't look overly long/tall. I think it's up in the air on how good of a finisher he'll be with that physical quality. He'll need to be crafty imo. From what I've seen on youtube, and a bit of this game he does seem pretty crafty i gettng a defender off balance and using a variety of different shots, and spin on the ball to get his shot off. Have to see more to really evaluate him though,

Seemed to have good form on his 3 ball shots. I missed a good chunk of the 1st half and didnt really see nay midrange to evaluate.

His passing, playmaking, and general understanding of the game seemed extremly good for a frosh.

I watched a bit of Valanciunas as he went up against Barca. Really long arms and great hands. Decent athlete. Looks like Biedrins with a softer touch around the rim.

Alright I was a bit speculative of all the Kyrie Irving hype initially but now i've warmed up to him. I know it's early but i'm like his numbers so far and also the game recap against princeton. I just don't want to be disspointed if we don't grab the 3rd pick :(

Disappointed if we don't grab the 1st pick if he continues to play the way he plays I'm sure by then he'll challenge Barnes for the 1st overall pick

Tonight at 8 Kansas plays Valparasio, for those who want to check out Josh Selby. Tomorrow Ohio State and Jared Sullinger face off with Billy Donovan's Florida Gaiters at 6. Duke and Kyrie Irving take one Miami at 7:30.

Selby's not playing tonight. He's academically eligible, but he's still not cleared to play yet. I think they're looking into his relationship with Melo's manager.

But most popular games don't show up in the stream till after halftime, already missed the first half of UNC and missed first 15 mins of Duke yesterday

I kept on hearing so much about Austin Rivers (Doc's son), so I decided to check out some highlights of this kid. This was my reaction after watching just one highlight reel by HoopMixtape
