Yes, Jeremy Shockey is here. No, all is not well.

It appears his absence from the practice field at the minicamp today is a source of discontent, especially with Tom Coughlin. The coach spoke to the media a few minutes ago, about

Come on, how can ANYBODY deny that Plax deserves a new deal? Give him his money, deservedly so.

Between what Plax wants, and the Giants are willing to give, there is a middle ground. I would have crucified Plax a few years ago. But given his production, and the fact that NFL'ers don't have guaranteed deals and can get released, or get a pay-cut, they should also be rewarded for good performance. Give him more money.

Shock has absolutely no leverage in any argument he has against the team this year, so if he wants to sit in the trainer's room all day, fine by me.

Plax deserves a new deal, but I'm not mad at him for not getting on the practice field. He stayed off it pretty much all season last year, and it seemed to work out pretty well.
