Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
Buckhantz has to be one of the worst announcers in basketball. These two say absolutely nothing related to basketball IQ. You get dumber listening to these two commentate a game. Buckhantz says the most obvious things and you would think they would have gotten smarter after announcing games for over a decade. Horrible. I can't wait until Leonsis cans these two.
Buckhantz has absolutely zero basketball IQ and Chenier knows shows close to zero basketball iq and strategic basketball as to what's strategically going on in the second to second game stream. Please improve the product Leonsis.

Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Phil Chenier is amazing and Buck is competent. Peddle your wares elsewhere.

Buck and Phil are an institution. They will never and should never be fired.

Re: Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
someone must have never seen a tnt broadcast (or any other local braodcast) because bucko and chenier provide much more insight and show more game knowledge than the national broadcast team. Complaining about obvious observations jeez has anyone on TNT ever given a non-obvious comment on anything?
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

TNT has two teams right? I like the one with Marv Albert, Mike Fratello, and Steve Kerr [?]. I think Reggie Miller is better in the studio or on the court than courtside...

Re: Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
National broadcasts have to deal with fans of two teams and various other national fans, especially to more casual fans. Many more level-1 factoids and colorful back stories, occasionally quite lame analysis, punctuated by "controversial" positions on important NBA issues of the day. And they don't show enough replays. I guess it's a marketing necessity, and at least blowhard Barkley cracks me up.
Most local NBA coverage I've seen (on the free NBA pass, WGN, or when I'm out of town) has been better than the national coverage, if invariably at least a little biased toward the home team. I hate watching Wizards games on national TV (even though they sometimes have far superior camera work) because whoever that is talking, it's not "Too Strong" Buckhantz and "You Gotta Call That" Chenier.

Collectively the best national team to me in recent years, especially Fratello adding pretty interesting insights.

Re: Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
pretty sure leonsis has nothing to do with who comcast hires, not that i'm favor of firing buckhantz/chenier in any capacity.
i'm partial to JVG but sometimes his "incredulous beyond belief" schtick gets old.

Re: Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
It took me a while to warm up to Buckhantz, but I like him. He calls a good game and he LOVES the team. Phil is one of the nicest people I've met. Always generous with his time and his thoughts. I'd prefer that they do more on strategy and Xs and Os, and it's long past time for them to stop trotting out per game stats like they mean anything. But it's a good broadcast team overall.

I see zero basketball IQ from Buckhantz. i don't understand why he has kept the job for so long. he clearly doesn't have a passion for understanding basketball strategy or it would reflect in his commentary.
Chenier, the color commentary has absolutely zero insight into Flip offense. i am going to start adding classic lines each game to magnify how little insight these two provide into the what's going on from moment to moment in a basketball game. i am tired of these stats about...he made 53 of 57 free throws.
how many times does Chenier or Buckhantz state to the watcher a mental break down in defense or a missed assignment. Or someone not reacting fast enough to Blatche getting double team. These guy are behind even us to poster in terms of what's going on in the game. Buckhantz bball IQ is equal to Al Thornton. Chenier shows absolutely zero interest in the basketball strategy that's going on from second to second. Horrible. yeah they get along, but what commentary has no value in terms of providing insight into a highly intelligent and strategical basketball game that is taking place in front of their eyes.

I have the NBA package, listening to some of the other teams commentators make you appreciate Phil and Buckhantz a lot, trust me on that.
Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)

I think Buck is great. Wiznasty is accurate when he points out that Buck doesn't drop much basketball knowledge, but that's not his job. Buck's job is to describe the action in an accurate and entertaining manner. He does that well.
Chenier may be the nicest guy in the world, but I wish he would provide more insight. I'm sure he is capable of providing analysis of the more subtle and detailed aspects of the game, but instead, he sticks to generalities. I wouldn't be heartbroken if he was one day replaced.

Yeah, compare them to other teams' commentators, and you really gain an appreciation of Phil and Buck. It's like when people were calling for EJ's head. Be careful what you wish for.
