Butler hasn't been doing very well this season, I wouldn't call him consistent right now. Maybe it'll go away though.

I worded that poorly.

Butler consistently gives a damn.

So does Scalabrine but I wouldn't give up Jax for him.

He sure wouldn't top my list, but he isn't horrible. He has a much improved (and improving) shooting stroke, is a good man defender and is smart with the ball.

Where do I sign?

Then we need pass first PG, who could set up Afflalo, Wallace and so on. Diaw could be assistive position again?

That deal assumes we are content with Boris as our 4, which I am not. Tyrus may not be our answer as a starter there, but he brings more impact per minute than Diaw.

I'm more interested in trading Jax and Hendo to the Kings for Thompson, Garcia and a pick. Then, deal Diaw and Diop to New Orleans for Peja and Thornton.

PG - DJ, Livingston, Tank
SG - Thornton, Garcia, Carroll
SF - Wallace, UPS, Peja
PF - Tyrus, UPS/Thompson, Najera
C - Thompson, Nazr, Kwame

Very athletic team with some intensity. I believe Thompson is a solid player and needs a new team/coach to get the best out of him. The Kings are a mess. Cousins is creating issues, but he and Evans are their future. Both Thompson and Thornton are on Stein's list of 5 available players (as is Jax). I believe Jason can play the 5 effectively. This gives us a solid 9 man rotation, w/UPS backing up Crash and sliding to the 4, plus Thompson starting the 5 and adding minutes at the 4 as necessary.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't know if I'm comfortable giving that many minutes to UPS. His skillset is limiting, I think. Having him back up both positions would give him more court time. I'd rather have Diaw starting and Tyrus behind him than have Tyrus start with UPS behind him, you know? I know the 5 spot is thin, but we'd just be putting the thin spot at the 4 and taking a risk on thompson's 5 spot ability. If we wanted a tweener center we could just play Tyrus there.

He's one of the worst players I've ever seen... Ask around at the wolves boards. We'd be better off calling up Joseph Forte. The kid is atrocious.

Aside from [Kevin] Love, probably the most indefensible playing-time decision so far this year is taking place in Charlotte, where [Tyrus] Thomas has been spectacularly good but is playing only 21 minutes a game and sitting in crunch time.

He just needs more playing time.

He just needs more playing time.

He limits himself with bad decisions to get in foul trouble, and some turnover issues. Also, with him in the game we lose some of Diaw's offensive distribution but I think that's a change we need anyway. It'd be nice to have a good distributor on the Bench, which Diaw could be. But really, he limits himself getting in to foul trouble so much. I think LB assumes that if he played a solid 32 mpg he would foul out often enough that it would affect rotations elsewhere and he might as well plan on it.

Also, I can't read the article because I'm not an insider. What the hell?

Yeah, I don't think Tyrus is really getting shafted when it comes to minutes. When he's in the game and playing well, he stays in the game. But sometimes he just makes it so hard to justify his court time with the bad fouls and poor decisions. His minutes will probably go up as the season runs its course though.

TT needs more patience when it comes to his offense and a few low post moves wouldn't hurt either.I think he has one...that ugly hook shot of his

anything that results in diop playing less minutes is a good thing.

He can score in the post, just usually not on purpose.

See the Kings are shopping Thompson, and the Hawks declined a Teague for Thompson trade. I say the Cats need to jump on this and see exactly what the Kings want for him.

I'd really like to see Thompson in a Cats jersey...

+1

I've always thought that we should have selected Thompson over DJ and Lopez. He's not getting much PT this year (Dally, Landry, and Cousins to blame) but he's a good defensive player.

If we could net him and Donte Greene (reminds me of Crash, also isn't getting much PT) in a deal, I'd be very happy.

So pick a number between 21 and 32, preferably on the high end.

i havent seen anything from thompson in the last 2 years to make me think he'll be anything more than a journeyman big. certainly he is a better option than some of our bigs, but i wouldnt give up much to get him.

Last season he averaged 21. This season he'll probably average more. Maybe 26-30. But he needs to limit his turnovers (especially those damned offensive fouls, they ruin good scoring opportunities for the team).
