David Haugh, Tribune wrote:The rest of the NFL apparently agrees with the Bears regarding Cedric Benson. He just isn't worth the risk.

The deadline for teams to claim Benson off waivers passed Thursday with none of the 31 other NFL teams interested in picking up the final two years of Benson's contract, a league source confirmed.

I think he's fine with it

Benson, eh? Wasn't this guy a beast at Texas? Haven't heard from him much since then. Maybe we should sign him, he'd be a decent #3 behind Forte and Peterson.

No thanks, I'd rather have Wolfe as our 3rd teamer.

I can't remember who it was, but someone on sports radio brought up the fact that Benson now has a history of 'cashing in' and then dropping out. He was drafted by a major league baseball team and got a signing bonus there, and then dropped out. He held out with the Bears for the longest time, got a big signing bonus and then never really showed up. So his history, in his professional life, has been to take the money and run - just not run on the field.
