The deadline for teams to claim Benson off waivers passed Thursday with none of the 31 other NFL teams interested in picking up the final two years of Benson's contract, a league source confirmed.

I can't remember who it was, but someone on sports radio brought up the fact that Benson now has a history of 'cashing in' and then dropping out. He was drafted by a major league baseball team and got a signing bonus there, and then dropped out. He held out with the Bears for the longest time, got a big signing bonus and then never really showed up. So his history, in his professional life, has been to take the money and run - just not run on the field.
