i don't know but i would think it wouldn't hurt his decision for us to at least play around .500 ball. what do you think ?

I think D'Antoni may be fired sooner rather than later :D

DENVER -- Only a couple of days ago, Carmelo Anthony actually forgot who he was playing tonight, according to the Denver Post 's Benjamin Hochman, and he shrugged off the arrival of the Knicks -- believed to be his choice destination -- as "just another game on my schedule."

But the more telling comment came when asked about Mike D'Antoni's system:

“You’re up and down, fast-paced and you get extra possessions in the game,” he said. “On the flip side, I’ve been on teams where we weren’t known for our defense, and that’s not something I want to ever deal with again. ”

Don't make the same mistake we all did with Lebron. Melo wants to win period. If the Bulls win 50 games and are able to offer a package that Denver accepts via sign and trade while the Knicks win 30 games do not be surprised to see Melo announce "I'm taking my talents to the windy city".

Come on Seren, if you are a Knick fan for over 10 years you cannot seriously believe that player X definitely wants to join the Knicks. How often did that actually happen. The key is winning games, being respectable and growing a winning culture. No one is gonna join this team only because we play in MSG or have New York wriiten on our jerseys.

Amare is, no matter what the winning column at the end of they year is, still the best big in the east outside Dwight.

Well he better get it together before Roy Hibbert and Al Horford pass him by.

Quick question - Is Carmelo's name misspelled in the title on purpose?

If we can't land Carmelo either by the February trading deadline or in the Summer of 2011, then I would highly suggest we wait it out and go after BOTH Chris Paul, and Eric Gordon in the Summer of 2012. Gordon and Paul together might be a better fit for D'Antoni's system than Melo + Paul because we all know D'Antoni's system is reliant on having good shooters to spread the floor and create good spacing. Honestly, that would probably be the best back-court in the NBA if the Knicks were able to acquire the two. Even though Eric Gordon is only 6-3, he has a strong frame and good upper body strength to battle taller SG's. He's also a pretty capable defender as well. And we all know what Chris Paul would bring on both the offensive and defensive ends.

PG-Chris Paul/Toney Douglas
SG-Eric Gordon/Kelenna Azubuike
SF-Danilo Gallinari/Landry Fields
PF-Amare Stoudemire/Anthony Randolph
C-Ronny Turiaf/Timofey Mozgov

I'm sure it's been posted, but the Times had a pretty good article today on the Knicks and what Melo would (or wouldn't) mean for this team. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/16/sport ... ref=sports

At this point I'm just hoping we can keep tonight's game competitive.

He knows you can not win without defense!!!

we need to stop thinking about guys who "fit D'antoni's system"...screw that, we need hard-nosed players who play like they have an axe to grind with the rest of the planet. Tired of this finesse, run n gun bullshyt.

Christ...are the "Melo to Chicago" people back again? Them and "JVG will be our new coach" people should start a club. Make sure to invite unicorns too.

Melo's Comments Speaks Volumes

Post#32 » by Siem » Tue Nov 16, 2010 5:46 pm

I strongly believe Melo wants to be a Knick, well everyone believes it.lol. I think its big that Melo is Questioning Mike D's defensive strategy. Im not trying to dive to deep into it, but I wonder will this make Mike D, put more emphasis on the Defensive side of the Ball. It would be crazy for a player thats not on our team (or not yet on our team) playing a roll in our defensive focus...Idk lets see in the upcoming games do we see more of a defensive focus.

I'm sure we will improve defensively when we stop playing Chandler and Amare as our starting front court

Go NYK your right about that, We were better Defensively with Ronnie in thier, I think we might be 5-5 if he was healthy.....And Knicks 742 your probably right as well lmao. Walsh had the right thinking hiring Mike D, because he did have a bond with the Olympic team players who loved his Offense, but I guess they realize putting up great statistics doesnt translate to championships if you dont play Defense.

What happens if Melo comes and we still lose for a while? If Mike's system doesn't work it will be righted. The bigger question is righting this "Knicks's System" which has been broken for 9+ years.

Melo just turned the knife in D'Antoni's back - and yet I don't mind! He's right.

they're holding on to that JVG dream REAL tight. He's never coming back as long as Dolan is the owner. Don't know why they insist on hoping for a fantasy to come true.

He also said his situation is just like Lebron's he wants to win...That means if he leaves he's taking the safe route to a chip and not coming here.

Boy the reaction to some fans if this guy doesn't come here....

You know LeShouldIBeWhoYouWantMeToBeyotch once told us about ourselves.....THEY DON'T PLAY NO D....and the Bloody Wench proceeded to announce his Decision in our backyard not coming here... We still got our knees dirty though

I dont really know what to say. Thats crazy. It sounds like he is asking NY to install a defensive minded coach. Then maybe he will mark our games down. lol
