So he wants out of small market Denver to go to even smaller market NOH, the team that CP3 most recently tried to cut loose from when they can both be in NY?
Someone help me, because I am not seeing it
Maybe because he'd get to play with another superstar in Paul?
I think Melo wants NY too, but just as we had no idea what was in LeBron's head, we really don't know what Melo's primary motivations are, or his wife's. We're all just projecting here. A year ago, I thought LeBron was the kind of guy who would never go to Miami to be a sidekick to Wade/Bosh, and would only leave Cleveland for the spotlight. I thought he was a shrewd businessman who understood the value of his name brand. Now, I realize I didn't know jack about LeBron's inner thought processes, and I'm not going to do the same for Melo. He may want NY, the city, but he may also really like the idea of playing with a superstar PG like Paul. None of us can say for sure.

Yeah because his wife really wants to be in New Orleans---her career will really blow up there.
Right. Im sure her whole family that mostly lives within new york, her friends who live within new york and his parents would just love to know they are in New Orleans.![]()
That is like saying Lebron had a good chance at going to the Clippers because they have Baron Davis, Blake Giffin and Eric Gordon.
Cmon guys. I think one thing that we can all learn from this previous summer is that city appeal and family issues don't have much to do with these players decisions. All of these arguments were used for why LeBron would never go to Miami, and obviously that didn't work out.

Actually we do. She made it clear in the summer.

True, but even Paul wanted out of NOH and when his contract expires we will have the space to pursue him. So why the pressure for Melo to join an even smaller market than the one he is in?

Why play with Rose,Boozer and Noah when you can play with just Stoudemire---if you are Melo you have to be completely stupid to think that way.
Why play with a top 5 PG, a top 10 PF and a top 10 Center when you can play with Stoudemire.
This is the same type of stuff I've read on knick forums prior to the Lberon free agency. He is given hidden signs, he wants NY but just wants it to be dramatic----blablabla---maybe hmm no. Maybe he just wants a team he is sure he can beat the Heat with? And maybe he'd think "Hey playing with Rose,Boozer,Noah and a defensive genius in Thibodeau is better than getting my ass handed to me every year in the second round of the playoffs with a coach that couldn't spell the word defense if his life depended on it."
I'm not saying that the Bulls do not have a chance. I think they do. But this was not an attempt to say he won't play for D'Antoni or that he doesn't like D'Antoni's system, or to put the Knicks on notice, etc. All of that is false.
I think he would say yes to the Bulls and they are in the hunt. But he did call them the third best basketball city. Hmmmmmm.
One point to correct - he said Chicago was 'top 3'. It could have meant third - but thats not what he said.
Which is probably a nice way of saying "Chicago is third behind New York and LA."

Yeah, because he can't do that in NY too?
What's the point in playing with another superstar when your going to gut your ENTIRE roster that made the Hornets a top 3 team in the league today?
He comes here, he plays with Fields, Felton, Amare, Walker. Next year, we sign a bunch of need fillers like what Miami did with Mike Miller, Eddie House, etc.

NOH and Chicago are only being mentioned under the assumption that Melo is traded by the deadline. In a trade they can both offer a max extension.
But if Melo waits until the summer - I got it at 99% he signs in NY.

No, it just means that it's not 100% winning. Obviously he doesn't want to cut his salary in half to play with the Lakers, that **** up his lifetime earnings potential way to much to be realistic. This next contract is where Melo is going to make most of his money, and he knows that. Melo's interest right now is probably a mix between money and winning. Chicago offers great team talent and a max contract. I still think he ends up in New Orleans though.

Actually the Hornets have the potential to have max cap space this summer.

You guys do realize Lebron went there to play teamup with Wade, Bosh right? It had nothing to do with the system.
And you probably do realize that with Spoelstra and Riley he knew he had guys that emphasize defense? You do know that Miami was a very good defensive team last season?LOL

You also said that as long as the Cavs looked as good as they looked, lebron would stay.

He didn't choose new york because he was a bitchass and wanted to play third fiddle with his friends. Nike even wanted him to sign here.
how overrated is that?

I never thought Lebron would go to New York...I didnt think the team was fit to win ..their pieces looked bad and the same thing applies here...If I am Melo and I say I want to win..THe knicks wouldnt be my top choice. The bulls would be...They have better pieces in place and a good young coach...the worst the knicks play the more it hurts their chances...

Jesus some people are just in denial. This is not the 1920's! You don't have to play in a big market to be recognized.
