NEW YORK -- Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies has unanimously won the NL Cy Young Award, making him the fifth pitcher to earn the honor in both leagues.

Halladay pitched a perfect game in May and then threw a no-hitter in the playoffs. In his first season with the Phillies, he led the NL with 21 wins and topped the majors in innings, shutouts and complete games.

Halladay received all 32 first-place votes in results released Tuesday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Adam Wainwright of St. Louis was second and Ubaldo Jimenez of Colorado was third. San Francisco ace Tim Lincecum, who won the past two NL Cy Youngs, finished 11th.

Good work Doc you deserved it. But i'm suprised that it was unanimous, considering how great Wainwright was this year.

Swirsky had a write in vote of 'Bargnani' that they didn't count as legit

Good to hear, he had a tight race with Ubaldo for a while. He had a great year.

Great job Doc. I knew you could do it. Lets go for #3 next year and hopefully his first WS ring (assuming the Jays don't make the finals)

Nicely done Roy. Would have liked to see him win a World Series but they need some bats in that line-up.

Awesome news!

He better go into the HOF as a Blue Jay though.

Fixed. :D

From the day he was traded I thought this was 100% automatic. Here's hoping Amaro doesn't continue to ruin Doc's chances, 'cause there is not a single player in sports that I can think of that I want to see win a ring more than Doc. I have almost always been a team fan, never becoming attached to players as they move from team to team if they leave the Jays. Doc is the exception for me, simply because he is so freaking good.

The best pitcher in baseball is finally getting some recognition.

That really shouldn't make any difference to a Halladay fan.

I just said I'm a Halladay fan outside of being a Jay fan, but it matters to me still. I'm not saying I'd be furious or anything if he went in otherwise and mostly I think it only matters for the week a player's inducted, but I'd still prefer him going in as a Jay. Obviously at this point, there's no question what cap he wears, but he's got a lot of career left to achieve big things in other uniforms. People can easily prefer the he gets recognized as a Jay and still be a Halladay fan. It's not like Ozzy said as a Jay or not at all, which would be different.

Yeah it doesn't matter, but it would make it a lot better. :D
