Jays had most early interest in Uggla. Jays' offer: RHP Roenicke, RHP Farquhar & either SS Goins or OF Mastroiann

We didn't offer much at all, but it was still better than the Braves deal. That's just an atrocious return.

Wow...power moves by the Marlins this offseason. Wheeling and dealing for Infante, Dunn, they wining and dining Buck. Huge offseason so far for them.

I bet season ticket sales are spiking.

The good news is that AA isnt offering someone like Arencibia unless its a player thats truly special.

The problem with Uggla wasn't his quality. He's a great player. It was his contract situation.

I was on the fence with Uggla like others. Would rather go for a real 3rd basemen.

Well, if that was Toronto's offer, then I can at least understand why the Marlins went with Atlanta's offer. Infante has more value than Roenicke, Farquar, and Goins. We are talking about an old (prospect-wise) unestablished reliever, a minor league reliever, and 22-year old coming off a .510 OPS in A+. Infante has at least been a good MLB player, and would be able to hold down 2B/3B (depending on where they want to play him) for the club short-term. After signing Buck and trading away Maybin and Miller, it is clear the Marlins wanted short-term help.

Some times GM's covet certain players. Maybe the Marlins just liked Infante. Much like the Braves were willing to dump Escobar for Gonzalez. I'm sure other teams could have offered more for Yunel, but the Jays just happened to have a guy the Braves wanted. That's how it goes some times.

What the Jays offered was terrible In my opinion.. I guess they weren't that interested in him like the reports suggested because we easily could have beaten the Braves package..
