Carmelo on Knicks: "They got some thigns to do. They got some things to work on. It looks like they're trying to figure out their team."

Carmelo was asked if this was the last time he'll play against the Knicks: "We play them next month, right?"

Now this may not mean much to you guys but I noticed something weird with this. They said earlier that they asked how Melo felt going into this game yesterday (with all the drama going on) and he replied "I didn't even realize the Knicks were coming into town". Kind of weird how he suddenly knows that we play him in a month given that he didn't know 2 days before the game. He's obviously being dishonest and could be just because he's sick of the questions. But hiding the fact that he knows when they play the Knicks is interesting.

Its obvious he was being sarcastic about not knowing when the Knicks come to town. And you're reading to much into it. Why wouldn't he know when he play the Knicks in the Garden, knowing that the Knicks and Melo saga is a big story? Of course he would know when he's going to NY. He's not dumb. Like us, he knows what's going on around the NBA.

Yea I would guess he knows all the dates he plays us. It's just that I wondered why he lied in his earlier question, that's all. But your absolutely right he could of been being sarcastic.

WTF? seriously? did you guys not see Melo hand Kobe his first loss? When it matters he can ball his a$$ off. He made it clear he wants out, he said he wants a new start. Kobe came to play he played vs Kobe. we havent had a player who can dominate a game since maybe Ewing? Amare can dominate but not like Melo. Give me Melo anyday! Ewing didn't give us a ring but he gave us great memories, great basketball, almost gave us a ring if it wasn't for MJ. I want to watch good ball not this stupid MDA system. Harrington is playing better under Karl and under MDA he was a 3 point shooter..what is MDA's deal with all these 3's FIRE TONI!!!!!! FIRE TONI!!!!

I can't see Melo forcing a trade to either the Knicks or Nets this season. It would just make no sense. Both these teams are awful right now - while Denver has a chance to play playoff games.

Why force a trade to a team that is going home in April - especially if they have to strip their roster bare to acquire him?

I kinda get a feeling Melo is not joining the knicks. So what would be plan B? Who is a more realistic target? Who could be available by trade? There should be some teams looking for capspace so trading one of Gallo/AR/Douglas and taking back a bads contract in addition for a star caliber player should be a possibilty if we strike out in the FA market. We also could extend Chandler for cheap, he´s been pretty good so far.

His body language seems to be that he wants to play for NYK, and at least we didn't embarrass ourselves last night.

Why would we want a guy like that on our team? He's a douche for that. Seriously, what if he was to come and play for the Knicks, and things start going bad and he decides to blow games here? Would you guys approve of that? Think about it.....

Um...YEAH. And because he's a STUD player.

I love 'Melo's comments from yesterday

Post#257 » by bencraven » Wed Nov 17, 2010 2:06 pm

He made a clear reference to not wanting to play for a defenseless team, that will only help D'Antoni's exit.

I can't really blame Walsh for the D'Antoni hire. Although I was very much against the hire from day one, I have to concede that it really did seem like players would like to play for him at the time and it did look wise with the pending free agency bonanza. But no-one really thinks of this style of play capable of generating championships, but it did seem a great way of attracting pieces and generating buzz.
That time has passed. With Bron, Wade and Bosh associating Riley with championships and 'Melo stating he wants to play for a good defensive team, it's clear that Don Nelson and D'Antoni are seen by players as coaches for teams wanting to get people into the arena, not put banners in the rafters.

Walsh is nothing if not savvy, I'm never a big one for making predictions and using phrases like 'mark my words', but I think it's reasonably safe to assume that D'Antoni will be gone by the Allstar break.

He's a nice guy who does a decent job with great talent and deserves to stay in the league, but, just like Don Nelson, he's not the answer for a perreniel lottery team or a team with championship aspirations. Plus he belongs in the Western conference.

The big question in my mind is who will be the next coach. I think that Walsh has the kind of confidence required to take a risk on an un-known. My personal faves would be JVG, Fratello and Laimbeer.
"Bill Laimbeer was perhaps the best all round centre in the league. Whether he was facing the basket or had his back to it, he was lethal, he could even step back and hit the 3 on you. All time best teams start with Bill." Red Aubach

yea expedite D'antoni's exit...
But would it expedite Isiah's reentry to the team? I wonder if anyone asked him the questions that really matter.

One wonders this may be the reason he wants to leave Denver. Denver has always been close to the bottom when it comes to opponent PPG. This year they are giving up 104.5 per game. Who knows maybe his main goal is rather get rid of George Karl and his high scoring style and bring in a more defensive coach.
