The good news for Wesley Matthews is that he may have a starting job (again) as soon as Roy's knee(s) disintegrate completely.

That is one thing I'm glad the Jazz aren't having to deal with. I'm happy to let that be the Bulls' issue though I do feel for the guys.

Brewer has looked great the last couple of games. He got off to a rough start though this season.

Korver has been making a few 3's every game it seems. He has been really good busting the other team out of the zone defense. It's going to be tough without him.

Boozer comes back here soon. Can't wait to see him in a Bulls uni.

Never like to see great guys like Brew and Korver have to sit due to injury. Wish them a speedy recovery.

Props to the Jazz for recognizing true value in players and keeping the ones who have it and not keeping the ones who dont. (Except where Matthews is concerned...Matthews on the current Jazz squad = deep playoff run)...

Matthews is going nuts on Memphis right now with out Roy. Put up 30 already, a new career high. He'll be a really good piece of Roy is out for extended time. Good for him, happy to see him playing well.

Our Front Office really screwed up not getting Matthews locked up. You'd think an undrafted player would be easier to lock up than a guy with a huge ego. Jazz FO really dropped the ball on that one....we could have had the best starting 5 in the league. Instead we're stuck with Raja Bell, who at $10mm over 3 seasons still looks to be overpaid :banghead:

I can't recall individual posters, but I remember the overwhelming majority on here thought we shouldn't match Matthews.

My initial attitude was that we had to keep him, regardless of the outrageous contract, but in the end I came around to the point of view that he was expendable. Looks like I was wrong. Bell is a bit better defender still, but at this point, Matthews is vastly superior in just about every other area. Miss the kid...

So one good game after having a so-so season means Wes is now worth that huge contract but we give up on our guys after 10 games??? I mean people have written off Big Al as if he's a scrub when he's averaging a very respectable 16 & 8 and act as if Bell is useless when his 8 & 2 are ok considering he's still getting in game shape. Not to mention you cant put a price on his locker room presence which some players have referenced to. You think people would have learned that from Fisher. I hope Wes does well in Portland but I somehow doubt he averages more than 14-15ppg.

me too i feel in love with him last year in the lakers series! However we have who we have and must move foward. As for the bulls i think Brewer will find more of a roll when Boozer comes back. Right now the bulls need to keep scorers on the floor. Thats not brew however when they have the Rose,Booz and deng show going they will need brews and noahs D to balance things off.

I thought we shouldn't match. But I disagreed with how we handled the entire situation because I really do believe had they approached it with more urgency, Matthews could have been here for another 3 years at around $18mm or 4 years at $22 something...

I didn't think we should match--but that would have changed if we had gotten out from under AK's deal this season. If we did keep Matthews we probably wouldn't have been able to land Jefferson without having a Laker payroll. But it is what it is at this point. No sense in what ifs....

You do remember the part where they gave him 9 million dollars in one day right? And then on top of that 5 million through out the year? That's crazy crazy money. No way should the Jazz (with probably the least rich owners in the league and bottom five market in the league) have matched that. There are probably only a handful of teams that could have done that. There is a reason GM's voted that as the 2nd most surprising move of the offseason. The money involved was outrageous.
