With Memphis being tight for cash and average at best with all their players looking for extensions and Mayo playing pretty poorly under Gay's shadow (lol?) his value is probably at an all time low.
I still think he has star potential on a team that needs a wing scorer like us, a Twill + expiring contracts package might just net us this guy.

Re: OJ Mayo?
I have league pass and watch every team at least once a week. He's deferring to his teammates, in a big way.
He occassionally gets it going but for the most part he's just playin within the concept which is give Zach Randolph the ball inside / pass the ball to Rudy Gay while you camp at the 3pt line.
He can do so much better. 1st/2nd year Mayo looked for his shot, drove to the basket, dished it off, handled the ball more often. Now it's Conley who handling the ball before passing it to his go-to scorers. Memphis wants to justify the big contract they gave him and he's not playing bad. He (Conley) is a useless defender though.
A change of team would do wonders for his confidence and he'd have a big impact on the Nets. He's not useless on defense and is a hard working, humble player so Avery would really like this kid.

So the question is, if the Nets trade for him, will he sit on top of the key watching Devin dribble the ball? Or while Brook works down low?
Admittedly, I haven't seen many Grizz game. But a star player, a true star player, ALWAYS finds a way to contribute and make his presence felt.

Re: OJ Mayo?
He is very young. Gay and Randolph are trigger happy players. Conley, Gay and Randolph all were playing for a contract these last two seasons. Conley and Gay got paid big while Randolph is pushing hard for an extension this summer.
A coach like Avery will bring the best out of Mayo. Avery likes to play a halfcourt game where plays are run according to playbook. Look at Humphries. Total different player this season. Doesn't take ill-advised shots, is filling the role he's perfect for. Defense, rebounding on both sides, setting picks/screens, convert on high percentage shots while giving it all during his time on the floor.

^^^ i agree.I don't think T-WILL would be a good fit in Memphis if their looking for someone to camp out and knock down threes though.Morrow is a on a good contract and would make more sense for them.
