Ouch. Really sucks for him and Portland. They could be a serious threat to LA if they had a healthy roster. But now you have the news about Roy too. It's time for Wesley to shine there.

His free angency will be interesting, that's for sure.

Wesley had 30 last night in his first start.

I'm thinking that the Oden experiment is about over now. I've been one of the last guys to think he could still pan out, but, even I'm done now.

Sad about Roy.

Must suck to be a Portland fan now. But, at least they have the beast, Wesley Matthews.

As badly as I want to say this is what they get for stealing away Matthews...I just can't. Just terrible news for their team and for those guys (Roy and Oden). I guess we found this generations Grant Hill (worse perhaps?) and what's his bucket big dude who never came through because of injuries...can't think of his name right now....

Anyways, sucks for Portland. Matthews is going to kill it up there now.

It sucks. As a fan I know how upset I am when guys like Mo Almond, Koufos, Humpries and Snyder don't pan out. I feel completely cheated out of a draft pick.

Having the #1 pick never get a fair shot must be unbelievable.

Hopefully he gets it together somewhere else.

Roy is going to be out against us on Saturday when we play them in Portland also with his knee stuff.

it's not even funny anymore. it used to be a running gag that portland never had any luck with their big men. but this season again?! really feel bad for him and the team.

the joke is over, injury gods. the guy has paid his (pseudo) dues. let him play already.

Ugh. So sad, I feel for the fans there. You get the number one pick, pass on Durant and then Oden is never healthy.

When he was drafted the owner wanted durant but GM talked him into Oden. Sounds very similar to when Portland drafted Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Cant believe one oragnization made 2 huge mistakes like that! Once shame on you, twice shame on me.

Portland now has issues with Roy's knees! They also had Walton's foot injury and Maurice Lucas died, they are jinxed!

I always thought they should've taken Durant, but on account of talent, not injury concerns. Any chance of a reasonably productive career is basically over. I feel very badly for him and for the fans. The rivalry we all envisioned is sort of evaporating.

On the bright side, he can start collecting Social Security soon, if his forehead ridges are any indication.

... too soon?

Seriously, though, I hope he defies the odds and can at least have a Walton-with-the-Celtics type run.

We should sign him to part of the MLE. Bowie had the same first 4 years, then played 4 years of 65+ games a season. If he's on the court, he's productive no matter what.

I was just about to pose the question of wether or not we should try signing him. I wouldn't be against it...microfracture surgery isn't what it use to be...plenty of player have had it done and gone on to have good careers (Amare is the best example that I can think of). I would give him a shot, maybe sign him to a 2 year deal and see if he can turn out to be anything. Just depends on how much money you would have to spend to sign him. Not sure how many teams are going to be interested in him but I would imagine there is going to be a couple teams out there that might throw some money at him...

I get the feeling that Matthews is going to put up big numbers but the team will continue to struggle. That is tough for a team first guy who likes to win.
