I'm not worried about the Nuggets trading Melo to the Lakers. I think they'd prefer to send Melo anywhere but the Knicks EXCEPT for LAL, who are probably last on their list.

the Lakers wouldn't even be better in that scenario. They lose a huge glue guy in Odom and a Center who may not be healthy all the time but becomes invaluable in the playoffs. They'd have a sick scoring trio in Kobe, Melo, and Gasol, but they lose height and rebounding.

So basically they would be the Miami Heat of the West.

Nuggets will probably refuse to deal with Knicks without Fields now. They have to have liked what they saw last night. I mean he's playing like a lottery pick.

Refuse to deal? Translation, refuse the chance not to lose Carmelo for nothing. This is my best offer, AR CHAndler and Curry, and Walker as a throw in. No to Gallo, NO to Fields. If they turn that down it's their loss. I'm hoping they do , we could use the depth. I would absolutely lowball them bigtime.

+1. With every day that goes by their leverage decreases.

i thought it would be dumb to wait till the deadline to trade him but i sort of understand their philosophy. they're hoping if the trade deadline comes around and teams like the knicks and nets seem like they're not any good that maybe they'll convince melo to stay especially if denver is playing well at that point. any deal they get is going to suck so what does it really matter if they wait.

Take out Odom and make it a straight swap (LA adds picks) and that is already better than every deal reported bar Favors.

The Wiretap has a story on Walsh scheduling his hip surgery so he could be back by Dec. 15th. Interesting, but might not mean much. How's this deal on Dec. 15th....

NY Trades: Curry, Gallo, Randolph, Felton, Azubuike, Rautins, future 1st
DEN Trades: 'Melo, Billups

Start: Billups, Fields, 'Melo, Amare, Turiaf
Bench: Chandler, Mozgov, Douglas

They want a first round pick now and no to Billups. He sucks at the pick and roll too.

I like Rhodey's trade of AR, Chandler Curry and Walker. AR is showing he's a project, one which we don't need once and if Melo arrives. Throw in a second rounder or two, buy a late first, and add $3m in cash. Not saying Denver would do it of course, but that'd be sweet for us!

Question guys. I have followed the melo rumors from the beginning but on this board everyone has speculated that melo tuned down the nj trade offer and that's why it didn't go down but I also heard that Denver took to long and it fell through. so is there any evidence like articles or sources say he turned it down? I know now he is more sour to the idea after talking to some guys that used to play for the nets and is now ny or maybe Chicago but really ny or bust but what about before because I still have that worry in the back of my mind that nj will come in and swoop him up I still believe he will be a knicks as it just seems so perfect with their family there but wanted to know if any of you guys had the answer because I know it has been speculated by many people.
Thanks

Melo stated when he arrived at camp that no one from the Nuggets FO approached him about any potential trades

It was rumored that Denver was the party holding up the deal because they actually wanted to dump more money off in any trade.

It was also rumored that NJN had a hard deadline on the deal by camp. And that afterwards, they would not discuss any deal.

I think it is generally now accepted that NJN were definitely in and that it was just DEN that stalled any trade. Be it because they knew Melo would not sign an extension or that they really were trying to dump off more salary.

Regardless, it became irrelevant when Melo hinted that he wasnt interested in going to a stripped team.

There have been rumors and "sources" backing up each of those possibilities, so no one really knows for sure. Most people here believe he turned it down, because of the fact that Carmelo keeps talking about the Knicks, and because of the weird way the NJ deal suddenly seemed to fall apart.

On top of all of this, Charlotte and Utah in particular were very pis*ed at how the Trade talks were handled and did NOT want to revise any talks.
