Seriously folks, do you really think you have enough info to make a judgement on every move EG has made? Some moves? Obviously, but do we really know that every team only offered 1.3 million, and therefore EG grossly overpaid? Really? I mean really?

Perhaps just a smidgen of doubt in our judgments (such as adding a qualifier, as in "If everyone else was only willing to offer 1.3 mil, then EG overpaid him!) is worth considering...

Thank you. It obnoxious enough when people act like their opinions are just as good facts, but when they start acting like their fantasies of what happened are just as good as facts... it's pointless trying to talk to people like that (cough--Dat2U--cough).

:D

Man, lots HOF stuff in the last couple pages!

I like the Josh Howard signing. However, people are judged in relation to their peers. Over the seven years as GM of the Wizards, the Wizards have won one first round playoff series. One. They have averaged 34-35 wins a year. Seven years is a reasonable sample size. So it is being charitable to call Grunfeld an average GM for the Wizards.

I couldn't care less about Howard being overpaid. That wasn't my point. That was never my point. It's all about Howard's health and his proclivity to get hurt.

Again, I said it's honestly not that big of deal. If Howard plays in 60 games and does well then its a good move, if he misses 50 games and is ineffective, its a bad move. But overall, like the Yi trade, its not a difference maker. Sure, I would have preferred EG to spend the money elsewhere or not spend it all on other team's discarded trash but those moves don't have any long term impact.

The moves I'm concerned about are the Hinrich/Seraphin deal and the Booker deal to a lesser extent.

To be fair, I believe injuries played a large part in this.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Facts, really? How many times do I use "IMO, "I think" or "I believe" in my posts??? Dude, I'm not dealing in facts here, never claimed to be. I just share my opinion like everyone else does on a message board.

That's why I am willing to concede that he is an "average" GM, at best. The loyalty he does inspire from some folks on Real GM is impressive, I must concede.

I'm not a huge fan but I do think he's competent.

I'm also curious to see how he does under Ted's direction.

Dave: "Bill McNeil is ...adequate... I'm sorry Bill."
Bill: "Sorry? Sorry, you weren't singled out and deemed adequate?"

This is where I'm at as well. Clearly EG made some fairly boneheaded moves with Polin as the owner, but he also made a few decent moves. Regardless, I too am interested to see how he does under an owner who's all about the draft and developing young talent. I think we should know fairly quickly how well EG will perform in this role, as in the next year or two.

I just think it's funny to imagine what any of us would have said exactly 1 year ago if someone had said "Your 2010-11 Wizards will have THIS roster."

A $h!tload has changed around here!

Josh Sets an Example in D.C.
by Devon Jeffreys
Josh Howard is hopeful that, sometime in the next month, he will complete his rehab and be able to get back on the floor with his teammates.

In the next month. So we have a time frame. Nov 19th to Dec 18th.

Josh is familiar with the fact that a slow start doesn't preclude a team from making the playoffs. The key is how they respond, as he told the Post:

"I've been in situations where we started out 0-4, 1-5 and turned it around quick," said Howard, who won 67 games with Dallas in 2006-07 after the Mavericks started the season 0-4. "It's a correctable mistake and guys need to go out there and sell it out for one another."

Washington has improved slightly since the 1-4 start and now sits at 3-7. Josh's outlook is optimistic and he believes the Wizards have what it takes to make a run at the postseason, as he told HoopsWorld:

"I hated missing the playoffs for the first time last year. We're going to make strides toward making that goal and that's one of the goals at the top."
